    I didn't think plextools worked with any plextor drives other than those with the sanyo chipset. does plextools work with the rebadges too as long as they're using plextor firmware?

    Thanks everybody for the info...I knew Plextor was not making there own drives anymore...however...I thought Lite-on was making them...guess I was wrong...

    The last drive I bought was a Sony made by Lite-on...I guess I will stick with a Lite-on or a Pioneer...I have 2 Pioneers and 5 Lite-on's...They all work...though...some have just had to many burns to be considered Good anymore...I will just wait for the "Sales" that we all know are coming...

    I don't think the sales get much better than this. :) link

    I looked at some of the "black friday" sales adds already and I didn't see anything that beat these deals. ;) Some Lite-Ons, Samsungs, and a Sony or two I think at the EGG!!!! ;)

    Ahem, somebody mentioned import taxes? Every single PC component I've bought I've been paying import taxes, why do you think everything costs so much over here?

    That all rather depends on what you're buying. Import tax is calculated on a 'per basis' business, so they can effectively charge you whatever makes the cost up to current UK market value if they so wish.
    If you can get cheap shipping to the UK, then it may work out slightly cheaper but it's debatable. For example, the 8800GT retails here for £175 ($360), but the import tax on it if you imported one would probably be a good £40 at least ($85)...

    Kinda off topic but I'm from Pakistan and the import taxes there are awful as well. For example you buy a 20,000 USD dollars car, when you import it you would have to pay 20,000 USD in taxes!!!

    A car is somewat different though, you've got to add an absolute fortune in shipping costs too. Cars aren't exactly small!

    Sorry bro, I've never really bought parts in Pakistan. Lots of places where they can be had, but they wont be cheap. Visit Rainbow center for all the pirated stuff you could wish for. I used to goto Karachi every other weekend(I'm from Hyderabad, 160KM away) and but PS2 games and stuff. We have most of those shops in Hyderbad now though.

    I guess I am American Paki, but I grew up and lived most of my life in Pakistan.

    @Sam
    Yeah really, check it out. We ship cars to Russia, Canada, Etc.

    Hmm well then don't expect much better in Pakistan. Thing is most of the stuff is smuggled there but the overprice the products so it equates to the same thing, even though there are no taxes on the items.
