I thought it was Russ but I've slept since that computer hunt. ;) I've been looking at the case and it's not a bad case for about $18. Tool-less, 5 ODD bays and the HDD mount is convenient to get at. ;)

GM---I feel your pain. I eased mine by making a few small buys, like an all in one floppy/ memory card reader, a few SATA cables and a PSU tester. I guess it saves me from getting everything at once.

Was just looking at Tri-SLI.........bull shit

The only difference will show is at 2560x1600 on a 30" screen,

You need atleast a 1100w PSU to run this............f**k off LOL

well i doubt youll need 1100W, probably around 600-700W. and its kind of obvious it wont have an affect on the FP/s until you go to outrageous res. if you look at the GTX and a Hd 3850, they probably have the same FP/s at low res like 800x600 or 1024x768 etc. but when you go higher up, and apply AA/AF at 1280x1024 ETC youll notice the difference.

also, thats just 3d mark, not real benchies, so i wouldnt be worried, wait till real game benchies come.

oh and its nice to see the scaling on Xfire is better than SLI, contrary to the normal conception.

    Ream,
Not for the 3 8800s, but for 3 HD3870s in CrossFire you might! Have you seen the power requirements for those? LOL!!

    Best Regards,
    Russ

as i have posted before, 1 Ultra needs around 175w of power. 3of them then need 525W. factor in an the rest of the system, and your only looking maybe for 7-800 wats then.

Well i just realised that im gonna be stuck with a max res monitor with 1280x800 so looks like a 3870 is gonna be slightly overkill even with playing Crysis on high.

May save abit by going with a mid range card(also means i could stretch out for some other good components). Ill take alook tommorow.

    Edit - Nevermind i just got a good deal on a 9800 x2

    It does the job:p

    Ream,
Trying to find this information is a bit like trying to pull a Whale's tooth with your bare hands! LOL!! All I found was forum after forum with a lot of disagreement between them. You would think that going to the manufacturer's web site would yield the correct answer. I did note that I saw a requirement of 75A for the PCI-E power connection on the HD3870 when I was looking up the card for someone else, the other day. No matter to me as I'll never need one! LOL!!

    Best Regards,
    Russ

I found this Russ but I'm sure you saw it already. ;)

    1st link

    2nd link

I don't know if that helps but it gave me some information. ;) I think the HD3850 will meet my needs once I save the money up for that. ;)

Thanks for the headsup Lp. ;) It looks like the CM RR-CCH-P912-GP 92mm Sleeve CPU Cooler would make a great HTPC cpu cooler. :D Is that what you're thinking?? btw I've looked at the VapoChill Micro but decided against it in favor of the Cooler Master TX2 because of airflow and the ability to cool specific parts on the mobo.

I'll look at the link you gave, I might reconsider. ;)

How did you get a good deal on a 9800 x2? I thought they weren't out yet.

Let's just say it was a "steal" ;)

    It support direct x 16
    10GB of GDDR8 memory
    10000000000000000000000 transistors

It still struggles playing World of Warcraft.

10000000000000000000000 transistors? That must make a lot of heat. I'm guessing thats why it had problems playing WOW. It must me running at 5 percent of it's power to keep the heat down.
