That guy REALLY wants SLI. Also that motherboard doesn't do true Crossfire, for that I would need a X38 motherboard.

hmm, I just came across another optional feature for my CM stacker 830 case while reading over the manual. pretty interesting and one that I will take into consideration. it's called a crossflow fan. here is a review with some pics and how it works http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/view.php?cid=22&id=1120&pg=1

I can pick one up for around $28 and might get one when/if I get another 4 in 1 device module to house 4 more hdds and another 120mm front fan.

Another vote here for the Corsair HX620W, and yes most of the the cables are more than long enough in an Antec 900 so should reach far enough in taller cases

Abuzar: Be sure to let us know how that works out, from what I've seen EVGA mobos seem a little mediocre, maybe thats just the 650i ones... You can do Crossfire on P35 boards too - you should seriously tell him that, because you'll get a much better motherboard out of it.
Rob: Get this one: Get the HX 620W like everybody says, from buy.com. Corsair for the win!
theone: Indeed, or this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128083

Last time I checked, the cables on the HX 620W are huge, that shouldn't be an issue.

edit: just noticed the 620W isn't on buy.com any more, neither is the 520W HX, only the TXes and VXes remain. What's up?

I'm not sure the G-byte DS3P supports TRUE SLi, supports CF tho. I have the mobo but haven't had the opportunity to try it out. ;)

Buy.com pulls something if it's not in stock normally, well that's my experience at least. :)

Intel chipsets don't support SLI, full stop, as far as I'm aware. As for the HX unit, it might be that it isn't visible to IPs from the UK, sometimes sites can be a bit funny like that.

Guys, P35 chipsets DON'T do true crossfire. It's 16x and 4x which is horrible. It does affect the framerates a lot.

is everybody ignoring my posts? I posted twice that the 20+4 mobo cable and 4/8 pin power cables on the 620HX are 20" long.

better hurry Rob. The $25 MIR ends on 4/15/08.

I think I'm going to go ahead and order the special cooler master crossfan for my stacker. looks like a good idea, sucking cool air in from the right side panel vent and blowing it directly over the entire mobo. that will save me needing to modify the left side fan panel and intalling two fans there. it's actually a few $ cheaper than two antec tricools would be too.

The 16x/4x doesn't affect frame rates THAT badly, I remember seeing an article on it, I think it limits your gains to 80% instead of 100% but doesnt drop the gain much if it would normally be less than that.

Well it still does and a X38 board is only 20 bucks more.

Man this PC selling business thing? It's starting to pick up. This is good.

Im sure with older games it wont affect much, btu with newer games beign bandwidth hungry (eas with AA) i think its sensible to go full xfire(X)

and you get better, more stable OCs with X48/X38

    shaffaaf,
I don't know that I would bet the farm on that one. How many stops and starts for those chipsets from Intel, so far? The track records of the motherboards that supported them isn't very good either as they keep bringing out the X38 & X48 motherboards, only to be pulled by the manufacturer! The MSI Diamond comes to mind as well! They have both a X38 & X48 diamond model complete with the loop de loop cooler. Those ones have been out of stock since forever! The total number of X38-X48 motherboards out there is pretty low overall, so I'll pass in favor of the P35 for now!

    Best Regards,
    Russ

My MSI P35 Platinum is a great, stable board, the first one i had was also, until a BIOS update killed the board; on it's replacement i just made sure to not update the BIOS. I'm not falling for the same mistake twice :)
