    nighters,
First thing you need to do is drop that Power Supply in the trash and buy a real one! It's junk! What is your budget?

Well I'm flexible - she doesn't do much more than play WoW and convert some videos to watch while commuting to work so it doesn't need to be a powerhouse. My goals are primarily stability and hardware that will do the job. (I think the video care I have should handle WoW just fine lol) I want to keep the cost down as much as I can so i can surprise her with a LCD monitor, mostly cause she deserves it =D

She's currently using my very first build, which does the job but has some kinks I want to avoid, which are primarily with a mobo that required a whole bunch of drivers xp didn't like.

Well I am sure she is set on the case. Change it if you can though, I would get this instead.

As for the CPU and motherboard, get an Intel E2160 and a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L and you can easily overclock to 3Ghz. Make sure you get a decent CPU cooler like a Freezer 7 pro.

nighters we'll spend your money like it's going out of style. hehehe. :)

L@@K at this case, it's purty!! link to Sigma case...

Like theonejrs said the PSU in that Raidmax is NOT good at all. Maybe one of these would suffice and get you what you need. ;) link to psu's 501w-600w ++++++ link to psu's 401w-500w

Nothing written in stone with these psu's just ideas and some are really decent psu's with good deals too. lol.
    Good luck to you...

    greensman,
Just so you know, drop that Thermaltake from the list. It's not half the PS that I've got. See that dinky little fan on the back? Well that's all there is! The 470 watt and the 500 watt are excellent. I doubt whether he will need anything bigger than the 470 watt one. Especially with an nVidia card! I know I've been very happy with mine!

    500 Watt

Cases are such a subjective thing that I usually don't comment too much unless someone knows what they are looking for. It just becomes more of an opinion based on what someone else likes than what's best for the buck. Take me for instance, I like my CM Cavalier! Sam likes his NZXT, Morty likes his CM Stacker, and so on!

    Best Regards,
    Russ

59C for a chipset is insane... I never even knew 50mm fans existed. Oh well, the more you learn!
nighters: While the case offends my eyes (hehe) it's only the PSU that HAS to be changed as its a heap of ****.
By the way theone, while I am a bit of an NZXT Fan, I do oft-recommend the Centurion 532 to people, especially after building a PC with one, I was quite impressed.

cool cool - thanks for the assistance. here's what I have so far:

I did change cases from one pink to the other. I didn't care for the idea of trying to fit custom doors on optical drives anyways. The pink is a must though lol

I like the Corsair psu better than the Thermaltake as well. ;)

    Look at these cpu options
as well if your pocket book will allow it. More L2 cache and better speed too. All of these will reach 3.0GHz with little effort for even more speed but it's your money as they say. :D

    good luck with the shopping...

ah yeah I was thinking of bumping up the cpu a notch. thanks. I need a good getting started in overclocking site/guide, something I've been wanting to try but not sure where to start.

Any memory recommendations? I usually had straight for crucial, tried using newegg's guaranteed search but it failed to work for me.

    greensman,
The thermaltake is the same design as the one I have without the PFC. The Thermaltake is Dual-Rail, which I prefer! I understand the arguments both ways! Both are excellent power supplies. I don't know about the Corsair, but the specs are wrong for the Thermaltake. It has more plugs, including the PCIe than Neweggs specs say! Both Thermaltakes are the newer design without the Lexan Plastic shield that covers about a third of the fan, and are very quiet and don't make a lot of heat. Either PSU would do the job well!

    Best Regards,
    Russ

The specs at newegg are probably right as lower rated PSUs come with fewer connectors even in the same series, and I believe a PSU has to be 500W or greater to come with two PCIe power connectors.
