i just took everything apart. while doing so, i was looking at the CPU and the bottom of my cooler. the paste on it doesnt look to have covered the CPU all that well.this MX-2 paste is thick as a stick..lol i took some pics of the CPU and the cooler ill post them shortly let ya'll have a look at it and see what ya think.

whats odd hours before i decided to take it apart. it started to shut down and reboot on its own again. then it just got to the point it wouldnt load windows at all. it would go through all the step get to the windows logo screen then restart.

    @zoso
i think once i get it (mobo)back im gonna take my mem, cpu, cooler, and mobo to micorcenter. they will put it all together check it out make sure it post right. then i will do the rest. they charge $20 to do that.
i gotta get the mobo in the box and prepare it to be sent back(yea UPS) but hey they are paying for it this time.
i gotta put a note in it telling them of this rebooting again.

ill post those pics in a bit
    EDIT:
    heres the pics

Nope, never kick a man when he's down.
Keep praying for you buddy and hope the big red machine lives up to it's name. Still think you need to keep a Yaz baseball card near it for good luck.

I saw the Asus Vento when it came out a few years ago. It was hideous then, it's hideous now.

Rob: I've had some hard times with PC hardware too, especially with my older PC. The solution really is just to stick it out. We'll help every way we can, and you know that. Try not to get disheartened as it really does you no favours.

btw made the switch back to the CM-690! Why did I wanna leave it anyway?? DA... is all I can say... lol. It's a well built case and has plenty of features, LIKE the possibility of about 9 fans. lol.

Here's another cheap psu story for you. -Wife and I where in the bedroom when we hear this pop pop pop, like firecrackers going off. Come in the living room and the electrical burning stench was thick. She noticed her pc wasn't lit up. I went over and pulled the side off and the heat just rolled out like it was an oven. Burned my fingers on the side of the psu, could have fried and egg or two right then. Took it out and pulled it open, seems capacitors make lively indoor fireworks lol. Glad I'm in the process of building her a new, bad thing is I got to find a psu that will work long enough for me to get some files off that machine though.

I can only imagine what would have happened if that thing would have blown flames enough to catch the ncaa jacket hanging on the wall on fire.

Next time get something like a Corsair, PC power and Cooling or one of the OCZ GameXStream ones.

Nice to know there wasn't too much damage.

yep - i built that one before I knew better.

hope the cheap replacement I found works long enough to get some files off of it, provided the psu didn't cook anything else when it went.

Here's the replacement I've been working on:

    Case:

    CPU Cooler:

    Any memory & storage recommendations?

Edit: just went to order mobo and cpu and the cpu is out of stock - when it rains it pours lol

This looks like it's a little better and little cheaper:

I would get a different case, but your wife may be set on the pink colour lol. Anyway you can do a lot better than that for the money, especially that video card.

    PSU:

    Video Card:

    CPU Cooler:

Ignore the single review for the CPU. From all professional reviews, it really is a great CPU.

Have the video card and psu on hand already, one was a replacement I didn't end up using.

Any good deals for memory out there that will work with the mobo? Newegg's memory selector doesn't like that mobo for some reason.

Ouch; i must have been lucky then, my Ballistix (purchased before Xmas sometime) have been behaving themselves. I don't intend on overclocking my PC in case that's got anything to do with any Ballistix misbehaving

No, the old Ballistix were fine. They used the same chips in the Gold ones and the Tracer ones. Just be wary of the new ones.
