saadzaman, the E2200 hand down. Although I don't understand why you don't want an explanation. Whatever.

I still haven't gotten my monitor yet. I will be building a new computer today though.

It's a E2180 and a 9600GT on a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L and 2gb of OCZ Platinum ram. Do you guys want benchmarks?

Yeah I make some money from these. It's just 800Mhz memory with 4-4-4-12 timings. Nothing fancy, but they are good quality sticks. I am selling my main computer too(guy is picking it up tommorow) so I will be stuck without a decent computer for a while. Maybe a month or so because I'm waiting for the Q9450 to drop in price a bit. Maybe get DDR3 ram, who knows?

is that Q9450 even available any where. newegg has deactivated it.amazon.com has it for $496 and a few other online sites like amazon has it from $390-520.

Well, I think we're all a bit baffled as to why you need a second system, but sure, why not? There's some decent stuff in there. One thought though, if that's an entirely separate PC, it'll need a graphics card.

    Robert,
NO wish lists here Mr.!!!! There's a thread for that.... :p

Unless you sold your puter between last night and this morning I know you don't have the money... :p And don't say you got your stimulus check either, cause I knows your wife and you aren't getting away with it. hehehe. :p

Most of it looks good as sammy said but there are changes that I would make. :D

cpu - Q6700 ( for the same money, it's better than the E8500 to me... :p)

cooler - Zalman?? NO way over a TRUE or TRU!!!

ODD - I like the Pioneer but if you have some LS DVDs laying around get the 20A1L (same structure as the 20A1S but with LS capabilities)

mobo - GET an X48 DFI or ASUS!!!! NO messing around..... :p

case - Lexa is ok but if you want to stay with NZXT look at this link

I personally like the ZERO!! :) Almost bought that one myself but I finally woke up and lived with the CM RC-690.... :p

Heh, you forget, none of those are red... :p
I'm in accord with Gm on the CPU and CPU cooler though. The TRUE is much better than the Zalman.

nope no wish list. my father is wanting to do a build or have me do one for him... ;) not a done deal yeat i have to present the price to him first..lol
yea i did forget the gpu.
i think the DFI and asus boards are a little more than he is willing to pay. i think i might allready be over the amount anyway..lol
didnt even think of the Q6700 either. thats why i posted..lol
plus the 500gb hdd and 2 burners will be mine... ;)~

ROB---That EX38-DS4 is still glitchy. The E stands for energy saver and you end up turning those features off to OC anyway!!! As much as I've tried to not hijack this thread in the past, I still have not figured out how to turn the clock control ON without going into a reboot loop let alone bumping the speed.
Simply setting the control from auto to manual causes this. Every memory test succeeded in whatever slots I used, I can manually set all voltages and memory timings in my BIOS but I cant even set the clock speed from auto to manual and leave it stock. I've read in Newegg reviews, and gigabyte forums at http://www.tweaktown.com about others having this same problem.
It has nothing to do with pressing Ctrl+F1, the power saver features (i have disabled), or enhanced Turbo settings (at standard) in the setup screen.
Also its memory slots are EXTREMELY close to the CPU socket many people have complained they cant use slot 1 with big aftermarket cooler therefore no 1 and 3 dual channel, but my Cooler master tx2 cleared barely!

I would go with an asus P5E mobo. it has X38 chipset and is only $25 more.

    Nice find Morty!! :)

    Robert,
If it's a system for your DADDY then I would consider a LITTLE trade off of the E8400 and get the Q6700 for myself.... hehehe. NOT sneaky just smart. :D

In all honesty what is he gonna stick on that mobo?? If NO more than 2 HDD's and 2 ODD's then the P35-DS3L will work, that is a very solid inexpensive mobo. Even if he wants 4 HDD's, just use the IDE ODD's, they're good too you know. :p ... jm2c there....

Lot's of options on this build. You gotta find out what he wants and what it's gonna be used for then you can really build what he needs. Heck an E2200 or something like that might even work... :)

good luck buddy........ YOU'LL NEED IT..... hehehee. :p

This is odd - I have no issues with my X38-DS4 overclocking, and have four sticks of RAM beside a TRUE with plenty of room to spare... How did they get the E version so wrong?

good point gm. if that's the case rob might even want to consider an asus maximus formula for only $50 more than the gigabyte.

    sam,

I watched Atonement (a British flick) last night. I have a hard time understanding you English chaps!

I don't think I've seen that. What makes it difficult to understand, out of curiosity? :)

your accent (maybe our lacking of one). just the way you pronounce your words. all british movies are hard for me to understand. not just that particular one.

Hehe, fair enough. Accents vary broadly depending on which part of the country you're from though, and although I'm sure that's also the case with the US, I find it difficult to identify people except for very broad regional differences.

sure, and I agree. yes we have different accents here as well depending on where you are from. we have southern accents but even they vary from state to state, northern accents and eastern accents (they almost don't pronounce they're r's). funny thing is, on national news or national programing, they talk just like me. I live in Kansas and I don't think we have any accent whatsoever.

I'm sure GM even talks different (southern accent) than I do being he is from Texas even though he is only about 300 miles away from me.

ok, sorry for getting off topic. I'm done.
