    @psczoll,
    LOOK at the picture of the board and see that the pin connector is a 4 pin and says 8 pin. I'm not 100% on this but if they have an accurate picture of the mobo then you should be just fine.

    hth......

    what does that mean ? its on product tour on that mobo site

    8 Phase Power Design
    The ASUS 8-Phase Power Design protects the CPU and power module from the risk of excessively high power stress to greatly extend CPU lifetime and system stability. The highly-efficient design also generates less heat to ensure low ambient temperatures, while the vigorous power pump delivers serious overclocking potential.

    @pszczoll

    I think Newegg simply mislabeled their image of the board. In fact I've never seen a motherboard with an 8-Pin 12V port.

    The 8-Phase power design thing that you ask about is power conditioning, power management to CPU, etc. You can read about it here.

    Nothing for you to be concerned about. :)

    pszczoll,
    There is a black cap on one of the 2 power connectors thats why it wasn't easy to see in the photo.Just remove the black cap and connect the 2 x 4 pin connectors.

    Second CPU rail...It is to provide more stable power to CPU...The PC Power & Cooling P/S have them...most your upper end P/S have them...

    @sarthak14
    Sorry I have not got list yet...back pain has had me down...Back Pain Sucks!!!

    Have you decided on a case or do you need more options from me...So I can fit in budget...

    You'd use the second 4 pins if you're using a quad core CPU.

    As for compatibility, you have a PSU with 2x4 pins so you can always connect the second one up if you ever change to a quad core CPU.

    @ Big DK
    I was under...the understanding...that it was not exclusive to CPU...That it provided benefit to all CPU's?..I could see how it would provide most benefit to Quad cores...

    Please correct me if I am wrong...I do not want to misinform...

    @sarthak14
    I was looking at raid for os...(2)320GB...
    I was looking at (4) 500GB...for storage...

    P/S will handle SLI...and all these drives...

    If you are wanting the spec's listed above...you are not going to come close to your budget...No Way...Not even close...

    750GB drives are $280 a piece with out tax or ship...You are talking over $1500 for drives...

    I had every thing set to go...

    Tell me what your expectations are again?..

    It will feed any CPU put on that board, but no dual core CPU will ever need it.
    The 4+4 is intended for dual cpu and quad core feeds, it is true that the spec also allows for it to connect to 'some single cpus' there isn't going to be any such cpu going in that system.

    I wasn't going to explain every possible situation that 4+4 could be required, I was trying to give an answer that solely related to what was being bought for that build.

    But true the answer was not so black and white as I first said.
