    I think my results prove its cooling performance is excessive - however, in a hot room with low speed case fans the Freezer 7 does get quite noisy keeping your CPU below 50 degrees, and if you've overclocked it a lot, that's probably about as high as you want it going.

    By the way for those of you who're interested:

    Single HD4850 - Crysis Benchmark (QX9650@3.2Ghz) - all settings high, DX9, Win XP:

    1680x1050: 35fps
    1680x1050 AA: 24fps
    1920x1200: 30fps
    1920x1200 AA: 20fps

    sammorris,
    How well a case ventilates is absolute key to how well the CPU cooler performs. I can run mine without the fan! The temps are higher and I have to increase the rear fan speed. With the fan back on the AF7-Pro the case fans can both run at 1300 rpm and my CPU will Idle at 28-30C with an ambient temp of 26C and the CPU fan running at 1000 rpm. It's been on about 8 hours now so everything is as warm as it's going to get. 59-60C is it with both cores maxed running OCCT! I encode with DVDRB/CCE and my temps are in the mid to high 40s. OCCT is the only thing that pushes my CPU fan above 1800 rpm, even then only to 2200 rpm or so and yes it makes some noise, but it's not annoying in any way.

    I think that the case manufacturer's need to sit down and pay attention to the way their cases manage airflow. I'm running the 64x2 4800+ in a small mid-tower case with a single 92mm rear case fan, a Freezer 64 and a 50mm fan screwed to the NB heatsink, in a room that never gets below 26-27C during the day! This in a case designed by eMachines for God's sake! ROFL!! Yet somehow they got it right! The first thing I noticed about the case was there are 3 rows of vents the length of the case, that start about 1.25" above the bottom of the case. These have fixed louvers on them that direct the air to meet from both sides, about mid case. I chose the Freezer 64 because after doing a lot of measuring, as I was trying to find one that would exhaust straight into the rear exhaust fan, and it was the closest fit. The Freezer 64 misses dead center by about 1/2". The whole combination works perfect with 1 lousy eMachines stock 92mm case fan! I've see it be 32C (warm) in there and the CPU temp at 34-35C. To my mind's eye that means more attention needs to be spent on the static air venting and less time being spent adding more fans! You have to admit that the fan count is getting a bit out of hand, don't you think? Look at some of the CM cases! One or more models have a place for 4 120mm fans just inside the cover, and it still doesn't cool all that well! NZXT just came out with a case that comes with 3 internal 120mm fans mounted on a frame behind the Optical drives. These do not use air from the outside directly, but rather just blanket the inside of the case with air from front to rear! There are 7 fans in that thing! 2 front 120mm intakes, 3 120mm internals, 1 rear 120mm and 1 140mm top fan! What I'm hard at work on right now will eliminate the need for the 3 internal fans in the Khanos, cost a heck of a lot less and do a better job in the process! You won't have to chain the computer to the desk either! LOL!! Stay tuned, we're close to the final plans that I can take to my investors!

    Best Regards,
    Russ

    To be fair, my case cools very well with reasonable speed fans - it cools adequately with them at only 700rpm, and that's saying something. Best of luck with your idea though!

    sammorris,
    If you want to be encouraged by my progress, I have a prototype in place in mine right now!

    The ambient temp is right at 27C and a bit uncomfortable, but things are staying very cool indeed! Just as I had hoped!

    Yes, the freezer 7 pro might be enough for most people with dual cores, but the situation changes drastically with a OCed Q6600.

    Of course, ZoSo is getting a Q9450 so cooling shouldn't be a problem.

    abuzar1,
    Well hang onto your seatbelt then because I do have a Quad in my plans, and it will be with this MB and my trusty AF7-Pro, overclocked! Cooling will not be an issue!

    Russ when you take it up to 3.6Ghz and cooling is not an issue, I will eat my... cake.

    Come on Abuzar you can do better than that. People pull high temps even with TRUEs when the Quads break into the latter half of 3Ghz.

    lol Fine

    I will eat my PIE. Mmmmm, Mango Pie.

    Seriously, I got temps like 70C within 5 mins of stress testing with a Freezer 7 Pro.

    I bet you did - 3.6Ghz Quads put out a LOT of heat.

    Hey everyone...
    I am thinking about grabbing this 8800GT to replace a 7600GT that is acting up...or a HD3870...

    The 8800GT will do better than the 3870.

    I actually used to have that EXACT same model. I paid 250 for it lol. The 1GB of RAM doesn't make a difference in performance compared to 512MB, but it's more future proof.

    Hey Boozer,
    How did you like the card...was it loud?..any artifact's in games?..
    No real difference in price between this 1GB and the 512Mb versions...my biggest concern was manufacturing quality...and memory quality...was the 1GB of memory any good?..

    Also I was looking at memory...whats up with all the bad reviews of the Crucial PC8500...are they using different chips or has something recently changed with there PCB's....

    Would this be a good combo
    Intel Quad Core Q9300 6000K cache 1333FSB 45nm CPU
    Gigabyte GA-P35-S3G 1333FSB

    4GB DDR2 667 PC5300 RAM
    Up to 8.4 GB/sec using PC5300 DIMMs (with DDR2 memory chips).
    Type: Double Data Rate (DDR)

    Yeah, really go with PC6400 memory at least. The motherboard is weak, I don't think it can overclock at all, but it'll get you by.

    Lp: Indeed so - the PC8500 stuff seems to be unstable entirely at its rated 1066mhz, barely seems to make 900.

    abuzar1,
    Well then you better take a look at this then. I deliberately let the room get up to 85%F (about 26-27C), so I could make the test even harder. Well lookey here!

    To be honest, that system is built from head to toe with low grade and/or poor quality components - avoid it.

    Theone: Take a look at what? ah, I see the link got added after...

    That temp is fine for that CPU, but we're telling you, a quad core is a whole different ball game - your CPU may be running 350mhz above mine, but it's only using 15mV extra - and when I ran my CPU on the P5N-E board (when I was using a freezer 7 Pro) I had it at 1.422V, near enough the exact voltage you're using - a full dual core load at max fan speed would give temps of 47C, with my low speed case fans - which were in operation even then, using a sensible airflow balance, I'd expect to see those sort of temps - your results are hardly groundbreaking. Add a Quad core into the mix though, and you'll have issues - the TDP of your CPU there will probably only be 80W - below that of a Q6600 even at stock.

    @Sam
    Its just the new stuff...Right?..I read that they have changed to single sided?..I know the chips from 6 months ago would make rated speeds with No Problems...
    @Rick
    I agree with Sam...it uses cheap sh!t all the way around...not a good buy by any means...
    @Boozer
    How was the 8800GT?..
