No worries man. Since you are already spending so much on your build, the PC2-8500 stuff is maybe like 40 bucks more it's worth getting. That Rampage formula is a great board and it will serve you well. just ask Mort! I would love to get one myself.

you guys are killin' me since all I have is dial up. not really but most of you are about twice as fast as my DSL pro at about 2.5 down and .5 up. looks like it's time to upgrade my service to the elite.

ya but it's thru cox communications and they suck. lotta complaints around here from ppl with cox internet service. they're always down and besides the cost is rediculous. I'm paying $27 mo now and can nearly double my speed by going to the AT&T DSL elite plan for $35 mo.

Plus if you have a lot of people around you using cable then your speeds go DOWN.

Allright! thanks for the replies everyone, i understand what you mean about plugging your personal favorties, i do it a lot too when i recommend things lol, but in hindsight it did help me learn a lot about different products. As for my build.... another bump in the road!.... sorta... at least... its a good bump... i think.... anyway, just got off the phone with my uncle who offered to help me pay for my pc! (yay for rich uncles) and with that in mind its now definitely within my scope to go for some higher end products. Unfortunately that requires a a kinda big relook at the parts ive chosen lol....

ok, so, with new, higher budget im thinking....

    $330 CPU- Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450
    http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16819115042

    $210 Mobo- Asus P5Q Deluxe
    http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16813131297

    $136 RAM- Corsair $GB (2x2GB) 1066 w/ $40 mail in rebate (same)
    http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16820145197

    $195 GPU- Asus EAH4850/HTDI/512M Radeon HD 4850 w/ $30 mail in rebate
    http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16814121253

    $80 HDD- Western didgital 500 GB SE16 WD5000AAKS (same)
    http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16822136073

$70 Case- Cooler Master 590 (same, it should still work right?)
    http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16811119152

    $31 ODD- Pioneer 215DBK (same)
    http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16827129020

    $24 ODD- NEC 7200S (same)
    http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16827118012

$140 PSU- Corsair 620W HX w/ $25 mail in rebate
    http://www.buy.com/prod/corsair-620w-sli-certified-modular-atx-power-supply/q/loc/101/203270718.html

~$200 Monitor- Still wanna look in store for this one.

~$1416 total with $95 in mail in rebates to get back. that should be fine price wise (with rich uncles money muahahahahaha.... >_> ha!) for me so dont worry about that so much.

alright, new build, took me forever to type out because i had to manually type out links.... PS3 definitely needs a copy/paste function... unless it already has one and im too stupid to use it...

Anyway, comments, suggestions, anything like that? lookin forward to hearin back from all of you as youve all had great suggestions and recommendations so far. Keep up the good work and thanks again!

oh yea, and about the hsf, any suggestions on one? i dont even know where to start lol....

    LOCOENG,
The day I have to register just to see the results of my Internet Speed test, you can get out the shovel and bury me! Why the hell they can't tell you that "before" you run the test is beyond me. It also tells me that they have an agenda to do with your information! I'll stick with the link I gave you! I don't have to be a "Member" to use it!

Shaffaaf: You live in the UK - that's a US speed test site. Only the UK one really makes sense to use over here. I get 4066 down, 481 up on the US site. Using the UK Speedtest.net I get 4838 down, 454 up.
Abuzar: Fair enough, I don't see any 8800GTs on newegg that are as cheap as the HD3870s, not any from a manufacturer I'd buy from anyway.

Zoso: A wise plan, we'd stick up for those bad reviews too, theone certainly would.

Theone: I use http://speedtest.net - no registration, quick and easy, and it uses a server that's close to your location by automatic detection.

russ, you dont need to register :)

sam, good point, i didnt realise that.

and IMO for nvidia cards it doesnt really matter for the manufacturer, as all of them are made by foxconn and a sticker is then slapped on. where as after the stock ATI ones (which are made by ATI) sapphire, his asus etc make their own boards (normally with they own coolers)
