Ok. So the Core 2 Duo is much better. I'll take it to account. I just thought that clock rate does matter... well, is 2.66Ghz alot? also, my friends have a 3.0Ghz Intel Processor and it's blazing!
    ----------------------------------------------------

To my old computer, there are my computers specs:

    It sucks i know.

    It's probably a Pentium4 or a Pentium D. A core 2 Duo will kick it's butt.

A Pentium D (Dual core Pentium 4) at 3.2Ghz is about equal to a Core 2 Duo at 1.8Ghz.

If you get a better heatsink for the CPU (i like zalman) you can get them from 1.8GHz to 3GHz or more.

Ok. I've taken a look at the hardware you gave me (to build the computer) and i like everything i saw there. However, i have a few concerns about the items:

GPU - Yes, i know, it looks great and all, but should i wait for GeForce series 9 or get a Geforce series 8 GPU?

Optical Drive - The first drive i saw was a good drive and the standard for me, it can burn and read most types of CDs and DVDs. However, the users (in the reviews) gave it a low score, saying that it stops working after a while. The Mitsumi drive also looks really good with a built in floppy, but i don't what kind of DVDs and CDs it burns. Plus, it's a USB drive. I heard USB things suck.

CPU - I looked some more in Wikipedia and found that there are a few processors in the Core 2 series. The Quad and Extreme. Should i get the Quad or Extreme or Duo?

HDD - I'm not sure which type of HDD i should get. SATA? IDE? which would work best with my setup?

    Thanks.

GPU - If you want direct x 10 support then I think you need a card in the 8000

Optical Drive - look into some other brands, i always use the cheap lg drives, and i have never had a problem

CPU - You really dont need quad or extreme (or quad extreme) right now. Core 2 Duo will be fine.

HDD - SATA (its new and faster)

GPU - the 9 series won't be out for a long time, and will be expensive. The 8 series is plenty.
The mitsumi isn't a DVD/CD drive, it's just a floppy drive with a USB memory card reader.
CPU - go with the duo
    HDD - S-ATA.

if its in the 8000s it supports dr x 10, but the 8800 will be the best for now.

The 8300GS supports directx10, but that's pointless since it's such a slow card it won't be able to play any directx10 games.

    sammorris,
Only if the 3.2 D-940 is overclocked to 3.6 or 3.7! Even up the 1.8 C2D kicks the 3.2 D-940's butt! If you overclock the 1.8 C2D to 3.2 like mine is, and OC the D-940 to 3.7, it isn't even close! I got both of them here right now! He He!!

Ok how can i find if my old laptop (my current main computer) has a Pixel Shader? I don't think it has because when i go to the Elder Scrolls morrowind pre-game menu, i can set up graphics options. Like which grpahics card i use and resolution. It also has a 'Pixel Shading' option. But the option is always off and never on. Why? cause my PC dosen't have Pixel Shader!

That's why i want to overclock my GPU so i could make it stronger.

Also, what your saying is that Intel C2D kicks the CBE's butt in everyway possible and that it's way to go?

    sammorris,
Yup! At 3.84 on the D-940 it does about 20,000 MIPS. At 3.2 with the E4300, it's right at 30,000. About 33% faster!

Since when is 30,000 33% faster than 20,000?

    Your maths is terrible Russ!

OmriSama, before you think you know it all, you probably do have a pixel shader, just the original spec, and not PS2.0 or SM3.0.

Well, Pixel shaders are standards, they're not physical things, so you need to get a graphics card that can handle certain pixel shaders.

2.Network card. How am i suppose to connect to the internet?

All decent motherboards have these built-in.
The onboard sound on the GA-965P-DS3 is particularly good, nothing like the crackly integrated sound of old.
