Well if you're being serious then thanks! It's not got too many lights, but it seems very well constructed. The air filter is getting dirty though, I should probably clean that up.
The Stealthxstream I believe has had some of the issues fixed from the Gamexstream, according to a review I read. The negatives about the Gamexstream stand for all versions in the series. As for Ultra PSUs I'm a little dubious. They're one of those companies like Thermaltake, that used to be bad at making power supplies, but have since greatly improved. Thing is, Thermaltake solved their issues by getting other companies to make their PSUs for them (read CWT who also make Antec power supplies), whereas I think Ultra still do it in house. What's concerning though is that the issues with early Ultra units were somewhat more severe than with Thermaltakes. The Thermaltake units used to be prone to failing prematurely, but in a safe manner. The Ultras used to have failed fans and components that essentially got hotter and hotter until they melted. Up until the XVS series, there were faults with most of their units. This is why I'm doubtful. However, I'll be honest and say I've not heard anything bad about the XVS ones. Not yet, anyway. Why Tigerdirect pretty much exclusively sell Ultra PSUs I'm not sure, maybe there was a bit of an anti-trust deal going on. I sincerely hope not, I thought the computing industry was past that. In my opinion, I don't buy a PSU if I've read a single bad review, apart from the occasional DOA, provided it is only occasional. The only negatives about the Toughpower were the loud fan, which I can wholeheartedly agree with, but build your system right and you can keep it quiet, at least to some degree. I didn't like the idea that the majority of reviews I read for the GameXstream (at least at the time I was planning on buying one) said the fan controller didn't work, it was either full speed all the time and loud, or low speed all the time and it overheated and underperformed. Perhaps that's fixed now, but I like not to take any chances, particularly so for power supplies, anyway.
I've also seen the XVS series get good reviews. Ultra actually outsources the XVS series to a separate manufacturer. If I remember correctly, the Rosewill RP500 (not the RP500-2) was/is made in the same factory and even uses an Ultra styled casing.
lol. But the Rosewill RP500 is a high quality unit. I happen to own and use one. It runs an OC'd system too.
Given that Rosewill puts out garbage most the time. I feel that I haven't wasted my money as it was $49.95 at the time of purchase.
Sometimes superstitions are right and I am wary of the PSU. Rosewill doesn't have a perfect track record but this one is still kicking. If it makes you feel any better, I have been looking at a new PSU for quite some time. Corsair 520W.
Well said. lol You think the Corsair 520W will be good? They look really nice :O At least as nice as my Enermax Liberty or my Thermaltake Toughpower
Put it this way, it can put out ample power, but unlike the Liberty or the Toughpower, it makes far less noise (22dB @ 1m for up to 350W of load). The Toughpower sits at around the 28dB mark at idle, and reaches 30dB after about 300W. I'm not sure about the Liberty.
whoa! you guys talk too much about power supply...i got lost half way...anyways...so which power supply is the best one...after reading the debate...it seems there aren't really a lot of reliable and good psu is it? any ways...after reading the review from AnandTech about the Phenom...i'm surprised and also bit sad...the surprising part is that its cheap for a new cpu and a true "quad-core" architecture...but the sad part is that...after AMD went through all that hard time this year...the new architecture is still a year behind Intel's...of course 45nm is faster than 65nm...if you compare Intel's 65nm quad-core chip to this new 65nm AMD chip who do you think will be faster... AMD is still hold up against Intel...and thats good. i saw this when i was surfing the online stores...and wow it sure is cheap... http://www.take2.co.za/list.php?type=4&cat=847
GTR:No cheaper than the Q6600, and look how much slower it is. Estuansis: Yes you can, it's a very well built unit, and pretty much silent.
PM'd abuzar I especially like the casing for it. Very high-quality and tasteful Check my profile in a few weeks or so and I'll probably have it. Thanks for the advice
