Long-time owner and user. The very best case I've ever had I think so too. When the new core revisions come out, It'll be interesting to see what kind of OC head-room they have. If they OC awesomely... well, then Intel has a competitor again
Given the relatively slight difference in cost between the 9500 Phenom and the Q6600, if the 9900 isn't faster than it in all scenarios, unless AMD are planning yet another price drop, this looks like another failed product... Only if you can overclock the cherries off the Phenoms will they be worth seriously considering. So far signs in that department aren't good. About the case, mine is aluminium, so only 12lb empty, and has a carry handle. Hoorah!
Which case is that? Your Lexa? I was going to get the Lexa Black Edition. But I just HAD to have the Armor
Yep, but only the original Classic Lexa comes with the carrybag etc. The Blackline, while just as good looking, is the cut-down cheaper version.
That's very poor, it has to be said. I can't help but think that, much like the R600 architecture from ATi, the Phenoms are at the absolute limit of their technology as they are stock. AMD really do need to pull their fingers out or it's game over.
Only 2.7? Damn. I guess we need to wait until the new core revision comes out and fixes all the problems.
Should I be ashamed? lol I really hope AMD can make something out of this processor. It's a decent CPU, but it has too many issues that need fixing.
Well we should all hope AMD can fix things. It gives Intel competition, and Intel shines with Competition. Remember what happened when Intel DIDN'T have much competition? P4 comes to mind. Of course then AMD started kicking the P4's ass and then Core 2 came along. See what happens with competition?
Well that's the thing, the Phenom is a decent CPU, but compared to the absolute streaks Intel have been having lately, it pales by comparison. My next CPU is likely to be along the lines of a Q9450, but only when they're somewhat cheaper than they are now.
Nope, and I have to pay course fees. I stil haven't sold my spare 3870 yet, and besides, I really have no need for such a CPU yet, which is my main reason for holding off, I'd hardly notice the difference. Besides, the Q9450 is the equivalent of $450 over here...
lol Q9450 is about $600 = R4600 nearly double the price of Q9300, just because it had 6MB more cache, and what you said is true i don't need that cpu now, my E2160 can do all the work that high end cpu can do, for a dual core. I hope the new B3 stepping will fix some problems to the CPU, and i hope 9950 will be faster and better BTW i can get -Corsair TX750 -Corsair HX520 -Corsair HX620 -Corsair VX450 which one should i get, remember i might CF and OC my cpu
awesome, I definitly getting that PSU! it's from that Landmark Computer site. But it doesn't have 8-pin connector
Not for PCIe it doesn't, but why is that important? Hold on a moment though, can't you just use these?
I know that, but I assumed you weren't using an HD3870X2. In any case, can you use the 8-pin connector bound to the CPU? I'll have to do some reading on that one. By the way, IIRC the 3870X2 only needs two sixes to run normally, you only need the 8-pin if you're overclocking it, I THINK. Oh, and in case you didn't know, the two connectors I posted the image of are found on the 620W HX.
