Haha, I was really ticked off about that part I had to because the holes in the hard drives where the screws go didnt line up with the holes in the HDD cage, unless the drives were flipped upside down. Was that the case with your 900 sam?
yo, so Thermalright Ultra 120 and a good 120mm fan, will kick the Zalman CNS9700 CPU fans a$$? just double checking
Without question. Even with the fan only at 700rpm (and all my case fans at same) I get better temps than you ever will with a 9700.
yo anyone here OC an E21xx series before? what is your multiplier and volts etc oh on a P35 mobo...thnx
With the 2100 series it's probably best to leave the multi at max because of the low starting FSB. At 1.4V you could probably get one to 3Ghz.
Waymon, why did you choose to go with patriot memory? just curious. I would most definately choose corsair, crucial, ocz or g-skill over patriot. even kingston (and I'm not too fond of kingston).
but if you lower the multis, and then increase the FBS, to the same clock, then wouldnt it be better for the chip to get more bandwitdh?
REAM, Not really! The limiting factor will be the lower starting FSB. Depending on which chip is being used I would say a safe bet would be 3.0 to 3.2GHz max, Stable! Waymon3X6, What possessed you to go with Patriot for your memory. I agree with Mort81, I would sooner buy Kingston, and I never thought very much of it! Crucial Ballistix Tracers would have been a much better choice! Best Regards, theone :<)
Already tried that... The cages have to be a certain way up, or the screw holes on them wont line up with the holes on the frame... The Patriot had good timings, a low latency, and they were cheap. I now see people saying that they arent that good... Before I saw people getting good reviews with it. I know they run hot, but I wont be overclocking them so I think I will be ok. Besides, they're in a Antec 900
cooled well or not, they're still not the best RAM you can buy, and in my experience heat isn't always the limiting factor with memory. As for the drive cages, are there less holes now? There are so many screw holes in my 900 you can pretty much do anything any way round!
Yes, you're right. There are so many screw holes in the 900 that you can bolt pretty much anything you want to it. When I turn the cages to the "right side" (where the HDD pcb isnt showing), the holes kinda line up, but are off by the slightest mm so the screw wont go in. I will try to take some pics of it when I get home. EDIT: What were your experiences with Patriot memory?
Interesting. I don't really see a problem with them that way round, but having never seen HDDs upside down in a PC before, it instantly caused raised eyebrows!
a) the normal way up, beause they fit! b) with great difficulty at first, because i didn't initially have a magnetic screwdriver...
Same here, but I couldn't find one at all! Took me a good 5-10 minutes to get all of them done. I am uploading my first video of the build onto youtube now, I will post a link later. EDIT: Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qq65_4OLHhQ
another reason I'm such a fanboy of cooler master cases. no screws needed for optical drives or hdd's. hdd's just snap in and optical drives just slide in and lock with lock mechanism.
Mort81, Not to mention the locks for the video and other cards. I love my Cooler Master Cavalier case. Very Classy looking with a good fitting, easy to reverse door to keep the dust away from my Optical Drives! no rattles either, unlike some "Tool-less" cases I've seen in the past! You only need a screwdriver to mount the motherboard and PSU! Best Regards, Russ [:>}
