Or nicking the signalling cable beside railway lines, that's always a good one. I was stuck in Newark for half an hour because of those idiots...

Creaky was mentioning that people are willing to saw off copper pipes (with the gas actually still going thru the pipes!) because of the scrap value of the material - people are doing it with wires as well, and a common one is stealing cables for railway signals...

edited by creaky to add the bit about the gas :)

is there some kind of gas or water or something in it?

    im1992,
A typical heat pipe consists of a sealed pipe or tube made of a material with high thermal conductivity such as copper or aluminium. A vacuum pump is used to exclude all fluids (both gases and liquids) from the empty heat pipe, and then the pipe is filled with a fraction of a percent by volume of working fluid, (or coolant), chosen to match the operating temperature. Some example fluids are water, ethanol, acetone, sodium, or mercury. Due to the partial vacuum that is near or below the vapor pressure of the fluid, some of the fluid will be in the liquid phase and some will be in the gas phase.

    Best Regards,
    Russ

Well every website has different methods of reviewing CPU cooler so a comprehensive list is difficult to find. Don't trust Anandtech and look on forums for user reviews.

Curently these are pretty much the best air coolers:

Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme for best performance.
XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 for best bang for buck.

    Why is what?

I mean both of them used with fans. You are kidding your self if you think you can get good cooling performance with out fans. Hell even water cooling needs fans on the radiator.
