I DO see a difference. Maybe not as big as 4x to 8x, but it's still a big difference. 16x AA is amazing.

Shockz do you have PHYSX enabled? if so that's probably hogging a fair chunk of resources for not much gain.

Yeah, I do, but I'd rather have PhysX and 8xAA than no PhysX and 16xAA :p

There's about 4 places where PHYSX is actually used!

I'm a tad bitter because my second card for PHYSX never worked at all...

Hmm it works more then it used to but still doesn't work!--PHYSX option is missing from Nvidia control panel even though it shows up under system information and clicking PHYSX properties opens control panel at manage 3D options. GRRR NOT HAPPY!

PhysX is stil buggy with radeon cards, especially with win7 I believe. I think someone managed to pull it off, but I'm not sure how.

I think you have to do a clean driver install so the Nvidia card is your primary video adapter. Then maybe you can turn on PhysX and run the game through the HD4850? I'm not sure as I've never tried. I DO have an 8600GTS sitting here though, so maybe I'll try a little experimenting on a clean partition...

Haha funny stuff at work today. Guy brought in a PC saying it didn't detect his hard drive. The drive was completely GONE with the logic board still hanging there attached to the molex and PATA cables. I was dumbstruck as to how the drive got wrenched out so violently and he never knew. Needless to say he wasn't too happy when I showed him the problem. You've never seen anyone so miffed about a 40GB Quantam Fireball...

Some power consumption figures I've worked out from the Bit-tech benchmark.

This is a.c. draw, so multiply by the PSU efficiency at this input to determine impact on PSU output requirements (e.g. multiply by 0.85 if the PSU is 85% efficient)

    GTX260: 45W idle, 145W load, 155W peak
    GTX280: 55W idle, 190W load, 205W peak
    GTX285: 45-50W idle, 180-190W load, 210-215W peak
    HD4870: 95W idle, 170W load, 180W peak (185W peak 1GB)
    GTX295: 80W idle, 260W load, 285W peak
    GTX260 SLI: 90W idle, 300W load, 325W peak
    HD4870X2: 110W idle, 300W load, 325W peak
    HD4870CF: 170W idle, 320W load, 350W peak
    GTX280 SLI: 100W idle, 375W load, 405W peak

I've given up again its all done in such a way as if Nvidia don't want you to do it but aren't going to fully stop you.

WOW Need For Speed: Underground with the resolution fiddled to 1440x900, Catalyst maxed and the game settings maxed looks better then the Prostreet demo on PS3. I'm so happy! I'm able to play a legend in HD!!!

Yeah, I've got to say it still looks pretty good :) Very good for a game developed 7 years ago. Shame you can't force AA - it would be the icing on the cake.

Oh I didn't think AA seemed to be doing much...

I really like the way you can just play through race after race meaning there's nothing to get sidetracked messing about with. Not like the games of today where you mess about driving to events then see a big jump that looks like fun then get chased by police then do a different event that gets you nowhere in your career then your even further away from the event you were going to in the first place and have wasted about 3 hours.

I know what you mean :) I got Underground on PS2 when it came out (it was my first PS2 game!), will always have fond memories :p The newer NFS games don't deserve the sales they get each year, the series has gone downhill so much...

And yeah, it's one of the few games that doesn't support AA full stop.

It must have been like Crysis at launch being before PCI-E and 90nm CPU's (DDR2 had only just been launched). The minimum spec is a Radeon 7500! we've gone all the way through the number system twice since then.

Just started playing Prototype and it's actually not half bad, graphics are a little better than I expected and framerate is very impressive considering the scale, feels around a steady 40 to 50 though I haven't actually measured it yet. Going to have to install Underground again later though :)

my sister told me about it and it has now replaced assasins creed as her 'STABBY STABBY' game (shes not completely nuts (once you get to know her)).
I'm still torn whether or not to cancel FUEL for it because on the one hand I'm fed up of WAITING!! on the other its codies and come on:
They made the first video game I ever properly played on. (Micro Machines).
They made my first ever Video game (TOCA Touring Car Racing).
They made the first game I actually did some of (Colin McRae).
They made the first (and for a long time only) PS2 game I actually completed (TOCA Race Driver)
They made my first proper (as in that only ran on decent hardware) PC game (Race Driver: GRID)
They made my second proper PC game (Colin McRae: DiRT)
They made the only DS game I've ever found remotely enjoyable (Race Driver: Create and Race

Haha, I don't like any racing games on the DS :p

But yes, I had the original TOCA Race Driver on PS2 and that was another of my favourite racing games :) And I literally <3 Colin McRae Rally 2.0 :D But I'm not going to get FUEL because it's only got mediocre reviews and I've seen people on the official forums saying they ruined it... Though I am still holding out for DiRT 2 - I'm not happy with the direction they've taken the McRae games but I think it should still be fun.

That reminds me of something - creaky once went on a locking spree in the PSP section and there was literally two full pages of locked threads and creaky as the last poster :D

Nice! I'm getting the feeling there are no mods on the codies forums as I am now 3 threads away from filling the first page with last reply by Keith1993
