Gahh I only got round to updating to 10.1 yesterday, that's annoying. Obviously CF doesn't make any difference to me but the new display driver ought to make something better. Presumably.

Wow, that's a huge release update. Well done ATI, for finally fixing the biggest problems in dual graphics.
I see they still haven't implemented the ability to detect Crossfire after a new driver until reboot though.

Guys!!!! Wow, I can't express what I'm feeling right now! lol
I finally managed a way on how to put the gts250 without my motherboard's battery falling off. Ok, basically, all I did was I tape the battery to stay put and it worked!!! Now, my graphics are so sharp! I'm so happy right now. Thank you guys for everything!

But anyway, now that I already installed the gts250, any tips or configuration that I should tweak?

Not unless you run into any problems :)

Schwaber, what is the exact model of your board. Or do you have a camera, and can take a picture so you can post a shot of it? I'd like to see this unusual board, that doesn't wanna hold its battery LOL!

I already posted the exact model of my motherboard here. Just look it up.

Asus Limestone 1.04? That can't be right. Unless...its some kind of HP, Dell, Emachine thing. I've never heard of a model quite like that. Is that what CPU-Z calls it?

    Time for a new computer?

    i920
    GA-EX58-UD5
HAF 932 or maybe Antec 1200
    Corsair 650tx
    ATI 4870 1GB

I haven't been around for a while. Any thoughts? Recommendations?

    It's a HP branded P5LP-LE Link

It'd seem that confusingly the battery sits perpendicular to the board. Hence the problems.

Omega: You really need to google, it took me a matter of seconds to find the correct model name, i.e. P5LP-LE.
Abuzar: A new PC? but you don't play games! olololol
The 4870 1GB is an old cheap card for a PC with such high specs, a 5850 is a better pairing. You should also be using a Core i5 for anything but a video workstation, as they're much cheaper and every bit as good for playing games.

Exactly. The battery is erected and thus, the problem. They should have just lay the battery flat on the motherboard.

I did an image search. http://Images.google.com Didn't come up with anything. Besides, I wanted to see HIS board. What I did come up with, I did see the batteries opposite the typical. It still seems confusing that the battery would pop out...
Actually, I'm a pretty avid googler :p I gave up after a minute. on this one though. I think I was busy with something else at the time ;)

After the off the shelf assumption and HP being the first result in web search it should of been pretty obvious :)

I must say it's a very odd way of doing things. But if it frees up space on an otherwise cramped motherboard then you can't really complain.

Clearly AVID was a bad choice of words. I do use google, and I usually put forth more effort than last time.
I'm more a listener than a speaker. Perhaps I should stick to what I'm good at :p

Ahaha I know I don't play games :(. I don't have time. I play them sometimes. It's for a Pseudo MacPro build though so I'll have to stick to the 4870. Idk why I want a core i7. Core i5 huh. That bears thinking upon.

I'm waiting for the i7 930 which should be released at the end of this month. From what I've seen the i5 vs. i7 920(/930 I hope) isn't a whole lot cheaper (~200) depending on the budget and overall cost.

The 930 isn't anything new though, it's the same CPU as a 920 but with a higher clock speed. The 750 is still likely to offer better value.

The i5 is definitely better value wise, only if this was 'value' build I'd probably be putting an AMD in it lol. From what I've read the i7 920 and i5 750 perform extremely similar right now but five years from now I'm guessing the gap between the two will have widened as the i7's higher memory bandwidth and HT capability make more of an impact. Although thinking about cpu's that were released five years ago makes me distinctly aware that such minor performance difference won't mean much, if anything at all. To be honest I'm pretty torn between what I want and what's the best performance/value.

Edit: Did a quick price comparison of the two and the difference is 60$ so unless I change my mind on the 1366 MB I don't see a reason not to spend the extra money.

Hey Sam, how do you check the temperature of your graphic card? Is there a program for that?
