600$ is almost too much for ME to spend on bleeding edge technology ;)

    That's my personal limit...

Difficult to say for me, I'd say it's whatever seems reasonable. £540 for my pair of 4870X2s when one 4870 was £180 was a no-brainer. Since then, it's been difficult to justify anything.

Ahhh yes. There are of course circumstances (Sales/price drops) which can tempt me more to buy things. In which case I can see spending more than 600$. 4 months til tax return time. If my calculations are correct, I should see slightly more this time :D Solid state disk, Bulldozer. Heck yah!!!

Funny enough I'm turning out to be a very good FPS gamer. Lately I've been getting multiple Ace Player badges every time I play Bad Company 2. Ranking as the best player on the server against entire teams of people higher leveled than me? Yes please. Not to gloat, but I could post dozens and dozens of screens of my Ace Player badges now. I take a screenshot every time I have a particularly good match :D

My skills are developing. I usually play 1 or 2 hours a night consistently sometimes 4 or 5 on weekends. Of course I skip days too but the point is I've been playing consistently and seeing benefits in my skill level. That's really gratifying. Even my other friends who play games with me have been noticing an increase in skill. In different games too!

lol the levels in BC2 are meaningless since you can't lose points. The real question is what servers do you play on? I've found that the players on some clan servers near me are consistently much much better than the players of most other servers.

What kind of combat scores are you getting, my personal best is ~8600?

I've had a little over 11,000. Average is maybe 2000-3000, depending on what class I'm playing. I'm not seriously tracking my stats though. I'm playing purely for fun :D

I do play a lot on clan servers, as well as public servers. I also play a lot of squad deathmatch on clan servers and do pretty well there. I stick to stock options servers, because all hardcore does is literally remove half your hud. What's the fun in that? It really doesn't make it more realistic...

I use MG36, gol, svu, the final submachine gun (something-40, I always forget what it is lol), 1911, knife and M16A2. I do like the AN-94 but don't use it for the obvious reasons.

I play only for fun too, other wise I'd have quit long ago lol.

I find a map showing me where everyone is, a counter displaying the rounds left in a clip and cross hairs floating in mid air completely unrealistic; I fail to see how removing them makes doesn't increase the realism. Also hardcore usually gives you less health so you don't need to put half a clip into someone to kill them. It's really just a preference but personally I'll choose hardcore over easy any day.

the best public one i played on was a harcore one, that had the hud. So little health, but normal look. Loved it.

Im not saying hardcore is any worse. Some of the best matches I've ever played have been hardcore. But for normal play I like to have all all the features available at my disposal. The HUD/Map is an important part of Battlefield history and is part of what made the series revolutionary. And as far as realism it's still a game right? So what's the point, you still won't convince me it's real.

I can stand to play without it mostly, but I gotta have the HUD. So that sounds more like it. I really do use the crosshair though. I don't depend on it at all, but it's useful.

Hey Jeff, just how good is your Dell 2407WFP? I'm thinking about running one primary to my Samsung 2433BW. Is it really worth 300+USD? I have a feeling Photoshop will look at least a little better. Do you use photoshop at all? I don't like that when I change viewing angles, some colors disappear while others, simply change tone. I don't like that. I want a monitor that either changes damn little or not at all. Gaming, my samsung is good, but photo editing is not so good.
Just read a review stating the Jpeg artifacting is more evident. I like that LOL!
