I've never ran a Wii through it. Yet anyway. I had a Satellite signal running to it. Good picture. Recording however, was quite trying. That may have been software though...

Man, my poor friend. As it stands now, the computer has no problem running in my place, but when he plugs it in at his place, it sounds like all 3 of his monitors get no video signal. Because all the lights come on, but no dice. Something really weird going on. He says all the cables are tight. Anybody ever experience something weird like this? I'm starting to wonder if he's got some kind of electrical issue. As much as I don't like doing it, I'm doing a house call :S His problem is somehow isolated to his home. Cause I doubt that the computer is the problem. And to have 3 displays fail...I just don't see that happening. The odds of all 3 displays failing are astronomical.

Ha ha! He just got it to work. SOunds like his main failed, and he tried another from storage that must be dead. SO he's purchasing a new monitor. Whew. Load off my mind...

DXR88, I'm following your linked procedure to build my Component to vga cable. I've got nothing to lose now. I bought This:
And it was faulty from the get go. The menu acted erratic, and the screen continued to roll. The signal was very bad. I just had to pay 9$ to return ship it. Not a happy camper LOL! They likely will not get my business again. But I did get a Wii motion bar pretty cheap from them.
If this is gold, I may just have to start ripping apart faulty equipment LOL!
I haven't dismantled Circuity before, so I kind of ripped it apart. I know now, that a soldering gun would have come in handy...

    i did say soldering skills required didn't i >_<.

before you go poking your eyes out with a 400 degreeF iron, check to see if what your going to do will work. take the required wires and stick them in the back of you VGA port on the monitor. it wont explode i promise

I have some skill with the soldering gun :p Not much, but enough to risk some scrap parts I have laying around LOL! Disassembling circuity is another story :S

I have some mild skill. Adding/removing capacitors is about the limit though. I don't have steady enough hands to do intricate stuff.

I'll post some pics of the finished work. By the way, the prongs aren't pure gold. A magnet could pick them up.

It'd sure help if I had a proper area to do this stuff! I gave up guys. The solder leaked into an area where the pin needed to sit. I have no money for any other parts. I'm really frustrated with life in general right now. Part time job for 5yrs, and nothing to show for it :(
It was probably a mistake to buy the Wii. But if you fully understood, perhaps not. I really need to understand the Wii and its capabilities.

Yes. Wish I had it LOL! Yup, my situation is that dire...

I really appreciate your help man. Perhaps if I weren't so stressed, things would have worked out better. Ah well. Perhaps a proper cable is what the doctor ordered ;) I'll sell a kidney...

Well...I may have refused your offer, but I did buy the cable. And it doesn't work! My samsung acts like it's getting a signal, but its black. My guess is the Wii is sending an incompatible signal, or my sammy is being a prick. Since I can't access my menu on the black screen, I'm uncertain what to do.
Somebody just shoot me. Obviously I wasn't meant to run my Wii on a monitor :(

EDIT- I believe I may have found a solution. I'll attempt to try it now.

EDIT #2- No effect. Somebody upstairs is laughing at me right now :(

    Are these generally created equal???

The thing is, Newegg's site says that my monitor accepts RGB connections. Is component not the same as RGB? I was under the impression, that they are one and the same.

Yah, I hooked it up in the living room for a couple minutes to make sure it was. I'm now tempted, to convert a DVI port to vga, and see if it will accept the signal that way. I don't like the idea of switching my Computer towers port to vga though. Then my general Computing is gonna have a fuzzy look. Eh, I'll see if it works first, before I begin fretting :p

I'm afraid the DVI port is a no go. The design of the Samsung monitor won't allow the length of an adapter, with the vga cable. I should have bought that Dell monitor a long time ago. From what I've been reading, it has every possible video input a guy could need. Live and learn :(

Sam, you have no idea how badly I want this monitor! Obviously I want the 30" more, but I think two 24" monitors would just be plain lovely! I've done it LOL! But the dell would bring unmatched abilities to the table. Maybe I could sell a few organs...
    Dell U2410
I see a few ebay sellers have it at an agreeable price. I don't even have 300$ though. The sucker has a card reader too! Does your 30" have a card reader Sam? Rare breed indeed. I've never heard of card readers on Monitors. USB sure, but never card readers. Very interesting. I've been considering one. Now I know how to kill two birds with one stone :) Gonna take me some time though.
