Jeff, I've been skimming through your posts, attempting to find a Dell monitor you recommended. It was a 24". I think you were recommending the U2410. I've currently got my eyes set on a 2407WFP, and they seem highly similar if not identical. Except the U2410 has a display port. One i'm looking at on Ebay is 2407WFP refurbished for 279.99 shipped. I plan on selling multiple items of mine, so that I can purchase this lovely monitor. What do you guys think?

The U2410 is the newer edition/model of the 2407WFP if I remember correctly.

One thing's for certain. I'd have to pay more for the U2410. I'm sure I'll love the 2407WFP enough ;) Card reader, USB hub, IPS panel(the big +), and a component input which I REALLY need LOL! Thanks Red_Maw :) The one I'm looking at has been refurbished by Dell themselves, So I should be able to trust it *touch wood*
I just have to come up with some stuff to sell :S

Yeah they stopped making the 2407 quite a long time ago, so it won't be a simple refurb any more, it'll be quite an old display, not that that's necessarily a problem.

AFAIK the 2407WFP is EOL or out of production??? Not sure but the U2410 is a direct replacement. I doubt there are many functional differences.

BTW My 2407WFP was ~$660 brand new from Dell. Still my monitor of choice after 5 years. Now that's good technology :)

THey state that it's refurbished, and like new.
    Ebay listing

In any case, I'm sure it's worth that much. I paid 300$ for my sammy just over 2yrs ago. It responds like new to this day. If the Dell lasts me 2+ yrs, I can be happy. I believe in 2 yrs, things should be well on the up an up for me ;) I really need an IPS panel...

It's possible that they could have put a new casing on it when they refurbished it. After all, nobody's going to buy a beaten up looking monitor, but if it had to be RMAed for a simple fault, it's a waste to throw away. Stick a new bezel on it, and sell it on, profit...
It's going to be a couple of years old or so inside (at least, remember the 2408WFP came between the 2407 and the U2410)

Hmmm, I see your point. I may just look for newer models. Really depends on how much I can sell :S I'm desperate LOL!

$280 is very little, when you consider a new U2410 is $600.

I don't mean buying brand new. I simply mean buying a used newer model. E.g. 2408wfp, or used U2410. The U2410 is expensive no matter what :( Yes, i'm a broke a$$ :p

If it's any consolation, (currency conversions here, but I've removed tax) my 2407FPW new was $870, and my refurbished 3008WFP was $1100.

Believe me, If I had that much money, I'd buy the 3008WFP in a heart beat! Yes, GPU power is required, but worth it xD But dual monitors is also good ;)

    Hence, both :p
Well, not technically dual monitors, since the 2032 is hooked up to a different PC, but to all intents and purposes, that's how it's used :) By contrast, the 2032BW was second hand and if you subtract tax (which I didn't really pay since it was a cash deal, but the original owner did), it cost me $90. Bit of a difference!

Turned out to be a good find as shortly after, they stopped making 1680x1050 displays in a 20" size. Now 1600x900 is the highest you can get!

Considering the U2410 is a direct successor to the 2407WFP and it still costs the same as 5 years ago, $280 is white-knuckled steal.

For the record I did replace my 1680 x 1050 22" Acer with a 1920 x 1080 23.6" ASUS. Similar pixel pitch, better size and resolution.

So you wouldn't hesitate to jump on the 2407 for 280$? I'd sure hate to have it quit prematurely. But man those U2410's are expensive. I probably will scrape up the money though. I also want the monitor to last a while now. If they're as good as everyone says, I'd die when it dies :p

I do actually still see my old 3007WFP, as I sold it to one of the people at our LANs, and it replaced his previous 3007WFP as a gaming screen, the former having gone to his work desk, as it had a dodgy backlight. So far at least, my old display still seems healthy :p
Kind of makes me furious at some of the technology I've had that hasn't lasted a tenth of that duration. Not pointing fingers.... (ahem, Asus, Epson, Saitek, Speedtouch)

My moms Asus monitor has a curious flickering when it comes back to life. My samsung is fully awake in a few seconds. This makes me nervous...

LCDs don't flicker, ever. If it does, probably means one of the CCFLs is on the way out.
