Yes, I think about it everyday :S But a whole new build, may be out of the question, until I go full time at my job. Which should happen in the next year. I've decided, no matter what the next offer is, I'm taking it. Because in order for the 3yr clock to start, I have to start! LOL! See... after 3yrs, I reach top rate. Which is ~$32 an hour. And most of those positions, typically work overtime(time and a half). As a bachelor, that would be an incredible paycheck :D

Haha, well go for it - I'm barely paid half that hourly rate, 18 months in at my current employer, and if I work overtime, I'm often not paid for it at all, let alone time and a half!

Gigabyte GTX970 G1 arrived. Absolutely gorgeous card. Just beautiful build quality. Gigabyte 3rd party PCB avoids the issues hopefully. Excellent performance. 60-80FPS in Far Cry 4 just blasting around. Really smooth. All maxed Nvidia settings w/ SMAA at 1920 x 1080. SMAA loves this 32" HDTV so it's absolutely gorgeous :)

No coil whine to speak of, even after extended time at 600+FPS. Woohoo there! Not silent but pretty tame for 3 fans. Huge card too. Love it.

G1 Edition seems to be the best one to me by a long shot. Fantastic video card! Silly performance.

    Glad to hear it :)

Sign of the times that we're all using GeForces now but there you go, just how it is I suppose!

Well Sam, Nvidia have stepped up and stopped producing crap hardware. From GTX600 forward they have made great strides in quality. Both of my new Nvidia cards have been fast, quiet, cool, and reliable. The 8800GTS truly pales in comparison. It is loud and hot and sucks power, even if it's a massive improvement from my old 8800GTX that it replaced. I'm going to be dropping the GTX760 into the Core 2 Quad box, and definitely put an 8GB RAM kit in it. That should breathe a whole new life into it and keep it rocking for a long time. The GTX 760 is very capable, much more so than previous generations of the GTX x60 line. I have no doubts the GTX960 will be interesting too and be even closer to a high end card than the 760. This is the most I have spent on a video card in a long time. Fantastic results though.

Continuing to be impressed. Truly a high performance video card. Mostly no or little bottleneck from my CPU. Able to get near 100% GPU utilization in many hardcore games.

Very High Quality, Normal Motion Blur, Normal Tessellation, PhysX On, AA Off(AAA). Basically cranked. It only used 84% of my CPU max and 98% of the video card. Obviously inconclusive but I think it's a sign the CPU is keeping up. Who knew? lol. I'll keep it a little longer then. It's really doing its stuff now. 84% means hex core is kicking in.

Well been testing the Asus Strix GTX 970 for about a month now got to say it is flawless. Every game runs smooth hardly heard the fans move and first time ever no lag in fifa like with my previous xfx7850 and others gpu's I have had. I have over clocked to 1400mhz to test and it runs great although I leave at default as it runs smooth so why over clock until needed. My main issue now is my 4k monitor there is a slight tear in the screen when running some games at 4k so my tip is go g-sync as for another £100 I could have gone g-sync so on certain games I play 1080p if I don't want the slight tear in the screen. 1080p on this card can give you a 4k feel that's how good it is. All round though the Asus Strix gtx970 is one mean son of a bitch of a card apologies for the language.

    Thanks DDP! :)

Sam, I'm curious how you'd compare the LG DM2752D-PN vs Dell U2410??? Both are IPS panels, the LG appears to have 1ms faster refresh. Probably negligible. I'm not sure that the LG has Pip control...
I guess I'm considering selling the U2410, in order to make the LG purchase easier. I see the resell value may not be what I was hoping for :( And to top it off, my SD port is no good.

LG's IPS panels are good, they provide IPS image clarity without the extremely neutral image that Dell's aggressive anti-glare coating provides, allowing for a bit more of a vibrant picture. I haven't seen any larger IPS panels of theirs than 24" though - in my honest opinion 27" 1920x1080 is too large really for a PC monitor to thoroughly enjoy. The DPI is just simply too low, and you're surrendering 16:10 for 16:9 (and thus suffering a small resolution decrease) by switching, as well as a fairly major DPI decrease. If you're mad about 3D then maybe go for it but the two monitors are in somewhat different classes.

Yeah... I definitely have to see it first. I won't even THINK about selling the DELL, until I know I can be content lol.
    Thanks man :)

I'll probably position the 27 further away. Thereby, rendering the DPI difference, negligible :p I would think...

Don't always assume that's to your best interest. Some people prefer their monitor further away, not everybody...

Indeed. When I'm editing photos, I prefer the Dell quite close. Vision problems... :( I've found I can force my eyes to focus on even the tiniest of things, but they don't like to do that. If I had to frequently, I'd likely get headaches.

The thing about the 27, is it's 3D. I prefer it were back a little ways. I'll likely use it for gaming, and movies only. But, if it's power draw is significantly less, I may opt to use it for almost everything.

    DDP... LOL!

What I will say, a vibrant 16:9 is just night and day for video watching - my UP3214Q may be a professional workspace monitor and not at all designed for gaming, but it blows the 3008WFP out of the water for console gaming and TV/film, it really does.
