yo boozer i prefer HD4870X2 instead of 2x HD4870, then you don't have to worry about PCI-E connectors and it also uses less watts too.
Sam can run HD4870X2 with HX520 then your TX650 shouldn't have a problem with it.
    Nice build! ^^

Shaff, IMO the front view looks plain/common, but when you list the stuff it has then it's a good case, 7 fans...thats good

After some play time with Far Cry all maxed at 1920 res w/ 8xQAA, I can comfortably say it's kept pretty well for such an old game. Last time I did some serious play was with my X850XT.

The AI is still too good. But the damage, armor, and health need tweaking badly. You die way too quickly for a game of this nature. All these big gun fights and whatnot. Give me 50% more health and armor and I'd say that evens it out.

Employment of stealth gets good results in the beginning on medium difficulty with adaptive AI on. I took out the first camp(with the firing range) without losing any health. After I get to the carrier though, the difficulty ramps up significantly. After I trial and error my way past the carrier(quickest way was to jump over the side, shoot down the boat and make a hasty exit) I have problems getting much further. Not that the game is unplayable. It's just that the rocket Trigens and crack shot mercs make it way harder than it should be at medium and easy. The game can be fun if you're extremely patient. But the problem is the damage. Near instant death with only a few shots. I don't like that.

I've been using HDR in Far Cry for a long time too. AFAIK, Far Cry was the first game to employ any kind of HDR. It really enhances the look of the game considerably, but can cause minor graphical glitching(transparent walls and doors) in certain indoor sections. It does kill performance though. Far Cry with HDR and AA can even challenge 8800's a bit. IIRC, the 7600GT got 30-50FPS at 1280 res with HDR on. 60-80 with it off. The 8800GTS 320MB saw 50-70 with HDR and well over 100 with it off.

@Abuzar: Spam's right, the 4870 needs two 6-pins, and while it comes with adapters, I prefer not using cheap molex connections to a very sensitive bit of equipment. Did you not consider an X2? What with me listing all the ways it's better than two 4870s on their own, and forgetting price! The 4870X2 can run on the 650 with no wiring mess, it produces less heat, uses much less power at idle, runs slightly better than the two cards on their own, removes the need to use a CF board, and so on and so on.
@Spam: Yes, yes you should have known. Lol

thats true, but in the long run HD4870X2 should save you more money, since it uses less power and the heat is not as high as 2 HD4870s

Say for instance that PC is at idle for 10 hours a day. Using a 4870X2 instead of the CF combo, you will save that 30 dollars in 6 months.

Six months is a long time to keep a computer. I might keep it for a few weeks or more or less depending on if people are willing to buy it.

i'm trying to help my friend compose a entry level computer
but i can't decide which GPU is better.

Yeah, I'm more of a console guy. I love computers but I just don't them long enough.

And don't tell me to. Shaf and Sam have already tried to make me keep them haha.

Yeah, there are PC gamers, console gamers and omni-gamers. I consider a few people I know the first option, Abuzar the second, and myself the third.
P.S. The HD3870 is slightly faster (but not by much) than the HD4670, but the 4670 should be cheaper, uses less power, and should have better driver support.

Actually I consider myself an omni-gamer. I do prefer FPSs on the PC when I have one. And the more complicated games are just way funner on PC.
