Shaff - I know, here it comes again: WHY SINK $200 IN A P4??

    Ok, I'm spending $120 on the 3850, $55 on the psu, and $70 on the 2 gigs, about $240 all together - I have $240, but I don't have $800.

This will tide me over until the new $2000 build (including monitor.) This machine will end up being a spare.

My PC store buddy Mo says don't buy the new psu, but he is going by 500watts not by amps on the 12 volt rail - I've told him until I'm blue in the face. He thinks it will handle it - and you know what, it probably would - FOR A WHILE.

But when I put the psu in the gaming rig, I can then put that psu - 20 amps on 12volt rail, in the 'green' computer, 2.8 p4, that right now has an Allied 350 with 15 amps on 12 volt rail, which is going to get the x850xtpe. So for $55, two computers get better psus - and so it's a cheap insurance policy and you guys, Sam especially, convinced me to do the psu change.

It's far better spending a tenth of the cost of a new rig updating an old one temporarily than it is to put new parts in a PC with a dodgy PSU. Mo clearly doesn't build gaming PCs.

So you selling lots of houses now?

Honestly that 200 dollars are better spent on a Xbox 360. You will get WAY better GFX than on your PC.

gosh, i miss a lot! Why doesn't notification doesn't work?!

Anyways, PC is much better mate, the graphics is way powerful than 360's but the advantage about consoles is that you don't have to worry about if the game works or not, all you need to do is insert the disc and play...different than computers tho

Dude, the Xbox 360 graphics looks much nicer than a P4 and a HD3850. Plus it has Halo :)

No, I still suck at selling houses - I haven't yet been able to get myself back on the phone like I used to - but I do have these three little escrows closing. So I can pull $300 out for my "tech" hobby fix.

You're right Sam, Mo only once in a while builds the occasional high-end gaming rig for the occasional client - he kind of builds it to order - I hope to God he puts a decent PSU in those rigs - but mostly he builds corporate PCs - many of them are for engineering companies running AutoCAD.

Abuzar! An Xbox?? A console!! All those buttons and levers? You are thinking of some other guy you know named Rich. :p Hey I know you and Sam can manage it, but come-on Boozer - I've tried playing with console controllers a couple of times, and I'm all thumbs.

My fingers don't like learning new tricks - especially when Shaff comes around the corner with his shottie!! :D

I'm just now trying to get used to the 4 key - without having to look at the keyboard (stun grenades saved my butt several times yesterday!) Half the time I end up reloading - then later I end up stunning myself when I mean to reload! LOL! So yesterday I was trying to make myself practice - "Go for the use key E - and it's just above that."

I turned the F key into my knife, so I can halfway find it. I have remembered to use it maybe 3 times. Two weeks ago I was completely out of ammo and no fallen guns in sight, I thought "What now?" Then I remembered the melee key as I walked around a corner and practically bumped into the enemy - I was crashing into him hitting the F key like an idiot - he was running circles trying to get me in his sights. It ended happily - I took his gun - hooray!!

Then there is the graphics issue, 1600x1200 versus television resolution. Bah humbug! HD is one thing, but regular TV - sorry I'm not into it. Now, I totally understand, boozer, the big screen TV and all the buds hanging out in the family room - makes sense for socializing with pals. Lol

    Aha, yeah it does.

Took me a while to get used to keyboard. I think controllers are so much easier because everything is within reach.

Simpler to get used to perhaps, but far less accurate. The maps in Halo are designed around this fact, you'd be godlike with a keyboard/mouse.

lol boozer you wont convince us PC gamers to move to a console, so dont even bother, its like telling mort not to get an ASUS mobo for I7 :D ( i joke)

rich, i pwnt with any weapon, but for the last motnh its been snipign for me, OR RPGs haha, which server you play on, you got xfire, if so add me, shaffaaf27

    as for your $300.....

    with $25 rebates

will destroy you rig, and can easily OC to 3.3GHz, though stock cooler might hold that back, but come on, the 4670 will kill youe 3850 aswell

if nothing, PLEASE PLEASE use that PSU instead of the $55 crap

though you can get the 512mb 3850 for $75 AND get an E2180 for $70, so that will be about $20 in savings aswell

AND you get vegas 2 with that that you can sell off aswell.

Damn, Shaff - DO YOU KNOW HOW TO SHOP or what. (Quit bitchin' - you guys get cheaper electricity, right?) Where are you getting those prices? That looks like Newegg. $307 plus free shipping! Sam posted this on a retail thread?? What retail thread??

I don't know how I'm gonna argue my way out of this one! :p

After seeing your bundle, Shaff - my stomache got all queesy the way it gets just before I sign onto cod4 mp where I know that half the time I'm going to have my ass handed to me - so I had to go take a sh*t and think it over.

I got up and walked out of the trailer (where all my real estate stuff is - three PCs, two 17" monitors, laser printer, scanner, 2 color printers, another laser just for 9x12 envelopes) and then I walked around the house just now and went into the garage - I have two more computer cases I could put my old parts in - or just move them all over to the 'green' case - I was going to put the gfx card there anyway - might as well put the psu and 7103 (faster bus and faster p4) there too, I guess, and have my spare gaming rig that way.

Then I could slide Shaff's (this Mo's) $307 worth of stuff into my current black modded out mid-tower case (with new top vent fan going in soon) which actually resembles Shaff's palace I just realized (don't laugh ya'll - I'll take pics one day) That way I'll have Shaff's fast parts and all my lovin' ventilation mods that I'm so proud of. :D

Sell it off nothing - I'll play the goddamn Rainbow Six!

Sam, boozer, estuansis, are you all in agreement?

Ok, Shaff, what kind of 3dmark score will I get from this bundle (up from my 2270 now.) You have just about talked me into this, you slick mofo.

How do I put this bundle together? I have bought from Newegg several times before but I don't know how to bundle. I'll have the check from the escrow that closed on Tuesday, probably in about a week. Thanks for looking that stuff up for me Shaff.

DOES ANYBODY DISAGREE OR FOREVER MORE HOLD YOUR PEACE!!! lol

14p per unit (1KWh) so that's 25 cents by my calculations. You sure?

As for 3dmarks, probably around 8000, maybe 10,000 if you overclock the processor.
    DO IT.
