You can also OC the shaders right? Try unlinking it and playing around with it.

Hi everyone, Now please bare with me! I know VERY little about graphics cards and knowing this site has a massive amount of experts in different subjects I was hoping that some kind person/persons could give me a little info,

    I have bought a geForce 8500GT super+1GB Graphics Card,
    Specs;
    1024MB,
    128Bit,
    DDR2,
    Dual Link DVI/TV Out.
    HDCP Ready.
I got with this card a s-video out cable with 4 female sockets, 1 blue, 1 red, 1 yellow, 1 green. its about 5 inch long.

I am wanting to run 2 monitors off it, to do this do I have to use the VGA out and DVI out, OR do I get a a cable which adapts the DVI out into a double DVI out?

Or can I use the VGA out and the s-Video out?

    I havnt got a clue?

    Thanks in advance!

Also to add 1 monitor is for my PC, the other is for watching videos from my PC to my 42" LG Plasma TV.

im not sureyou can get dual output through svideo paried with either dvi or VGA.

you best bet is oen monitor to VGA and one to DVI.

(also i hope you know, that gaming will be VERY hard on that card (unless you go into the lower resolutions with the eye candy off)

Does the card have two DVI connectors on it, or one DVI and one VGA? If it does, use the DVI to your PC monitor (use a VGA adapter if necessary) and use the VGA to the TV, it will be better than using S-Video as the latter is lower quality, and also resolution limited.

I also echo shaffaaf on the performance on that card, it's fine for work programs etc, but gaming will be a chore as it's a very basic underpowered card.

    Thanks for the fast replys.

    The card had a 1 of each, 1x Dual Link-DVI + 1xVGA, also 1 s-video out.

Im running the monitor resolution at 1280 by 1024. the DVI supports 2560x1600.
I have been playing COD 4 without any problems.

Will runing the game resolution at 1280 1024 be ok on the card, and for videos on my 42" TV run it at max resolution be ok also?

What makes the card basic and underpowered? I thought with it having alot of RAM it would be quite a high powered card. Dont laugh at me lol.

    Also heres the card http://computing.kelkoo.co.uk/ps_18643434/111601.html

It's essentially a very slow card with loads of memory piled on for no explicable reason. It can game at low resolutions like the one you're using, but try playing some of the more demanding titles out there and turn the detail up, it will really run very slowly indeed. A typical standard graphics card today is approximately 5 to 20 times as fast as the 8500GT 1GB.

However, as long as you don't play games on the TV, it will do fine.

COD4 is a very scaleable game as it is based on the COD2 engine, anything based on a newer engine will have alot of trouble. there is no way you can MAX out cod4 even at that low res.

People with 7600GSs can play COD4 fine, that should sum it up pretty much.
People with 7900GTXs get owned at several titles.

No, the memory on a graphics card is isolated from the memory on your motherboard, you do not need to match the types together.
A GDDR5 card would even work in a DDR1 motherboard.

Shaf, the 8800GS is faster than the 3850. Plus 256MB of VRAM is not enough these days.

Not in stock, not relevant... Besides, the 8800GS is a better card anyway. I don't think HiTeck has had a bad deal at all. Plus, you really shouldn't post things like this, it's what drove theone mad last time, and to be fair, I can see his point.
