i dunno about the 850, i know its minor, but 2 6+2 PCIE and 2 6 PCIEs are a let down to others which have 4 6+2s.

infact now i see on the zalman website the 1k aswel.... :(

soem 1ks even have 6 6+2s, for 3 SLi, unless they havent updated their manual on their website.

how old are these PSUs sam? not knocking them just wondering, as if im wrong, then they are amazing :D its only minor i know :D

However, what you haven't considered is that four 6+2s aren't required for anything other than Triple GTX280s, that is the ONLY combination that needs that much, and running three GTX280s on an 850W unit is just plain stupid.

id agree but for the 1000W.

the thing is the corsair TX-750 has 4 6+2s.

im sure nearly all/most of the 1ks can accomodate tri-sli. most people buying 1k PSUs will need something that can take the extreme.

im sure im wrong, they msut have updated, as its the modular connectors that are only 6pin :)

The TX750 however, is not modular.

Slightly better than a 9800GTX+, so a noticeable improvement over an 8800GTX.
For £60, it's the Corsair HX 520W, hands down.

i know its not modular, but the be quiet 750Ws have 4 8 pins aswell, and yes i know they cost like £105 from scan (not in stock) or the 850W zalmans cost around £130, which is the same as the 850W Be quiets.

But the 650W Bequiets can't run two 4870X2s, the 850W Zalmans can. I can't find the 750W units for sale in the UK at least.

ran out of stock ATM :D

i didnt say the 650w can run 2.... the 850s can, yes, but no 4 8pin PCIEs, where as the similar prices be quiet can, and the TX750W can aswell, and in sure the toughpower 750W can aswell.

im not putting down the PSU, but only the lack of that cableing. everywhere else is a magical PSU.

Scan may be out of stock, but I don't see it on any other website, and that suggests to me it isn't available at the moment, i.e. discontinued or awaiting re-supply.

Zalman makes everything as nice as possible. I have a few of their various video card coolers and they're excellent. I'd assume, with such a nice design, plus the extra cooling, it'd be a damn fine PSU.

It's a solid, well built PSU, but it's not as quiet as units like Corsair and BeQUiet, whereas the 850 and 1KW units are.

    Yep, the HD4850 is about 5% faster than a 9800GTX+, the HD4870 and GTX260 about 30%, the GTX260 Maxcore about 45%, the GTX280 about 50%, and the HD4870X2 anywhere between 35 and 180%.

Shaff, we share your excitement about the recent election. Because it's such an historic occasion, not to get political - loco or creaky: worldwide excitement about election results

Sam, I'm confused about a recent post:
You had said that Zardon couldn't get anything to work reliably with triple and quad crossfire except for the Corsair 1000 - so how come it's not on your "superb" short list? Or is it a noise issue?
