Well, it looks like it stops here. Not too bad really at 3.357GHz. It will run at 3.4 but I'm not willing to go over 1.4 with the voltage. An 87% OC is fine with me! Here's the cpuz of it!

I discovered that I had the voltage set to auto so that's why it was reading 1.44v before. It's a bit chilly in here at 22C and it's idling at 27C. Encoded a long DVD with it before and it got to all of 42C. It's supposed to be warmer tomorrow so I'll see how it does then.

not sure. try bumping up the vcore a notch or 2 higher than 1.3500. also set the mch chipset voltage at 1.65.

Here are most of the settings found in the BIOS on a 965 chipset board.
This will show what effect each has and hopefully give rough idea what to put where.
Obviously indiviual settings will depend on what the overall system overclock is set to.

CPU Frequency: Sets the CPU frequency in relation to the multiplier used, also since the system is quad pumped, the FSB of the board will be 4x this setting.
266 FSB will result in a rated FSB of 1066.
The limit will be somewhere between 100 to 650 FSB depending on the BIOS, but in reality will actually be far less than the allowed max of 650 for example.

DRAM frequency: is what speed the RAM will run at, it is directly linked to the CPU Frequency, so as you push up the CPU FSB the Dram frequency increases with it.
For optimal use, the speed of the RAM should be on a 1:1 ratio with the FSB, but as the RAM is DDR (Double Data Rate), it will be twice what the CPU frequency is set to.
I.e. CPU frequency set to 266, DRAM frequency set to 533.

PCI Express frequency: This will normally be selectable from somewhere between 90 to 150MHZ. Increasing the frequency from 100 to 110 or 120 or so can add a descent boost to PCIE bandwidth but the card/cards you use must be able to handle the selected frequency.
You’ll need to test this on your system to see what the cards can handle, I normally use 110 MHz with no issues, but more may be possible on your cards.
Setting this too high will also give rise to problems with the SATA ports, they may end up loosing connectivity.

PCI Clock: Just set this to 33.33, as it relates to any PCI cards you use, trying to increase it is not going to improve anything.
I set this to 33.33 not auto so I know that the frequency is fixed, and that way I won’t get any issues where it changes in relation to the FSB frequency changes.

Spread Spectrum:is a method of reducing EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference).
You are unlikely to suffer this, and as enabling this option can make Over-Clocked systems less stable, just keep it disabled.

Memory Voltage: Is the voltage you supply to the RAM, the options will be 1.8V to 2.45V, only supply the RAM the voltage they need to get the system stable.
You can normally see the rated voltage for memory on the manufacturer’s web sites.
By default the setting will be 1.8V, but this may be under what your memory needs, so checking the memory voltage is required to ensure stability.
Also if you intend to OC the memory, then you’ll need more voltage supplied so the DIMMs can draw more current.
Remember that the more current the memory draws, the more heat it will produce, so as with everything, the more you push your system the more effective the cooling will need to be.

CPU Vcore Voltage: Auto sets the voltage to the CPU by what is hard coded in it.
Again remember more volts will equal more heat, on air cooling with C2D try to stay at under 1.5V, 1.6V with water and phase change cooling.

FSB termination Voltage: Used when pushing the FSB frequency high on the CPU, adding a little voltage here can help stabilise things as you clock higher.
When you start to push things to the limits you’ll need more voltage here.

NB Vcore: Increases the supplied voltage to the Northbridge chipset.
As the memory controller is on the Northbridge, increasing the voltage here can have a major impact on how well the CPU and memory Overclocks.
The max you can set is 1.65V, but as before you need to keep the NB cooled, this can be done by simply adding a fan over the heatsink, or adding an after market cooler.

SB Vcore (SATA PCI-E): Increases the supplied voltage to the Southbridge.
Useful for adding extra voltage to the PCIE bus if you are overclocking your video cards and trying to run them on an overclocked PCIE frequency as discussed earlier, also increases the voltage supplied to the SATA interfaces.

ICH chipset voltage: I can’t see any gain in adjusting this voltage over the main SB voltage, although some people report it helps.

CPU Ratio Support: If set to enabled, will allow you to manually set a multiplier on the CPU in the ratio CMOS setting.
Ratio CMOS Setting: The multiplier options available here will be dependant on the CPU, the E6600 for example will allow you to set from X6 to X9.
This multiplier is the multiple of the FSB speed set in the CPU frequency setting at the beginning.
I.e. CPU Freq set to 266
    Ratio set to X9
    CPU speed will be 2.4GHz

C1E Support: Will allow the system to drop the multiplier down when the system is idle, thus allowing you to save energy.
I always have mine set to disabled, sometimes it can really make Overclocking a pain and make the system unstable, although later BIOS releases have helped to stop issues with it being set enabled and still OC to a high level.

Max CPUID Value Limit: Unless you’re using an older version of Windows you don’t need this enabled.
It allows information about the CPU to be passed to the operating system, if you’re using either XP or Vista just disable it, as for Win 2000 (I’m not sure).

Vanderpool Technology: (VT) is Intel's new virtualization technology.
Unless you’re using software that uses VT then it can be disabled.
If you don’t know if you are using VT software, then chances are you’re not!

CPU TM Function: Enabled offers protection against heat, Thermal Management.
You can try it enabled, or disable if the system becomes unstable when overclocked.
It will basically throttle the CPU for very brief periods when the CPU gets too hot.

Execute Disable Bit: Intel hardware-based security feature that can help reduce system exposure to viruses and malicious code.
Makes no difference in any OC I ever done, I leave it enabled.

    PECI: Platform Environmental Control Interface.
A newer more accurate way to read temperatures on the system, but if enabled it may result in the system over-riding your settings to try a cool things down.
This can then make an Overclock become unstable.

Memory Remap Feature: Used when you have 4GB of RAM.
If you have only 2GB or less installed just leave this to disabled.

Configure DRAM timing by SPD: Used to read the timings from the memory modules and set them at boot up (if set to auto).
Personally I always set my timings manually.
To do this force the SPD option to Disabled, but you will need to know what the settings should be for the memory you are using.

The first 4 descriptions here are the timings quoted by the memory manufacturers when selling the DIMMs, i.e. 4-4-4-12

DRAM CAS Latency: set as per the specification of your memory, but may need to be increased if the memory is overclocked from its rated speed.
Likewise it may be decreased if the memory is being used under it’s rated speed.
It's part of the wait between the chipset requesting data and the DRAMs getting ready to send it. A shorter delay is better; 2 is less of a delay than 3.
However, your RAM needs to be able to handle the increased rate and may not be able to do this if the FSB is overclocked or the RAM is of a lower specification. Increasing the CAS latency will therefore allow you to Overclock the RAM further

DRAM RAS to CAS Delay: Set as per your memory’s specification.
When RAS is asserted, there must be a small wait before the CAS can be pulled. This setting controls length of the wait. Like CAS latency, it's a delay before you get your data, so while your system is faster at a lower setting; it's also more stressful at that setting. Your RAM may handle it, or it may not.

DRAM RAS Pre-Charge: Set as per your memory’s specification.
The RAS precharge is the delay between when a precharge command is issued to close a row and when the next active command can be issued.

DRAM RAS Activate to PreCharge: Set as per memory’s specification.
This latency actually spans several steps in the memory access process. The active-to-precharge delay refers to the minimum number of cycles that must elapse between an active and precharge command.

    More memory timings:

Dram Write Recovery time: Set this to what the memory can take, normally 4 will work, but may need to be dropped for more excessive Overclocks on the memory.

DRAM TRFC: If your memory is Micron IC based you may be able to set this option as low as 20, most other memory types will work on 35.
    Options available usually 20 25 30 35 and 42.
42 is a very loose setting and will work on anything, plus will help if the memory again is being overclocked.

TRRD: Options 0 to 15, around 10 is where most leave this, this has no major effect on performance.

Rank Write to Read delay: This is an important timing.
Start set at 10 although some DIMMs may need 12.
The tighter it is the more performance will be gained.

Read to Precharge delay: This is another important timing.
Set to start with at 10, although again some DIMMs will need 12.
The tighter it is the more performance will be gained

Write to Pre-charge Delay: This again is another important timing.
Start set at 10 although some DIMMs may need 12.
The tighter it is the more performance will be gained.

Static Read Control: This needs to be disabled for fairly high to very high Overclocks.

    Ok I got it . cpu frequency - 333 , cpu voltage - 1.3750v , NB Core 1.65v , memory 667 mhz on 1.9 v , iddle temps (from everest and speedfan) cpu-30C , mobo-27C, after 2minutes of orthos cpu temp was 48C , and after 5 minutes temps were jumping between 45C and 47C.

Im not sure if i should go more with that temps ? .
and what can i do with memory? i want it to run at 800mhz or more if that possible .do i need to change its voltage?

I have no idea how OC friendly the new C2D cpu's are. I have heard not nearly as OC'able as the earlier ones. try 2.8ghz (311 fsb) and set the dram freq at 622. you can most likely bump the dram freq up a notch later if it is stable at 2.8ghz.

yea but is it gonna make some difference from 2.4 to 2.8 ? am i gonna feel it ? , i think im gonna wait until someone is gonna get some good configuration for those parts and than oc it or im gonna upgrade for water cooling and than try to oc higher.

yes you would notice a difference with cpu intensive programs. you can run the vcore up to 1.400 or higher on air without any worries. mines at 1.4250 now. some say 1.5 but that's too high on air for me. just make sure the cpu doesn't go over 60C under load. you've always got to raise the vcore when OC'ing. you're not anywhere close to the danger area. keep the fsb/dram ratio at 1:1 to rule the memory out of the equation while OC'ing. you can always try bumping the memory up a notch later when you reach your target cpu OC and it is stable.

Try not to do everything in one hit, otherwise you won't know what is causing the crash.

Make sure that the memory is set to 1:1 ratio with the cpu freq, and that the timings are nice and loose and the voltage is as per manufacturers spec.

Next disable any thermal management and steeping tools in the BIOS.

Ensure all settings are set to allow the cpu and fans to run at full speed.

Next make sure the cpu multiplier is set to x6 and then raise the fsb, you should be able to go straight to 400 with the memory running at ddr800.
The voltage on the cpu can be set to 1.4v with no issues at all, and then raise the NB voltage up 1 level at least.
make sure that the PCI-e freq is set to 100 not auto and that the pci freq is set to 33.33 not auto.

You should at least be able to boot to this setting, as the cpu is not over its rated speed nor is the memory.

Obviously the fsb is upped from 266 to 400 so you'll need extra voltage on the NB.

Disable C1E support, CPU TM function, VT, Max CPUID, mem remap feature and also the cpu q-fan control.

Providing this boots, run your tests and make sure its stable.

Either way let me know how it performs and we'll go to the next step.

    Mort81,
Mine was at 1.44 thanks to stupid me at accidently turning on the Auto for the voltages. Everything looked good until I installed Everest Ultimate Edition 2007. I imediately noticed that while my CPU was doing all right, the core temps were going way too high, going up and down like a yo-yo. Now that the voltage is set to 1.38 and the Smart Fan is enabled, the temps are all stable, with no sudden and alarming changes.

Nice display from Everest too. It displays the fan speed and the temperatures for the hard drive, GPU, Core1, Core2 CPU and motherboard in the task bar.

    Happy Computering,
    theone

Ok i think i disabled everything i need and i dont use . My multiplayer is x6 and Buss speed is 400Mhz , core is running at 2400Mhz ,cpu voltage is 1.3725v , NB core is 1.65v , memory to fsb is in 1:1 , memory running at 800 Mhz , and 1.9v .

Now if i want go for 3.0ghz i increasse buss speed to about 499 ~ 500 , but than my memory speed is gonna increase to so im gonna need to change memory voltage to make it work stable , and how much i can go with memory? if i want to keep it in 1:1 mode? its gaming corsair
