Put it this way, if somebody gave me an E6600 for free, I wouldn't argue.

Actually, that's a stupid thing to say, I'd wonder what they'd done to it, but you know what I mean.
Quad cores really don't do it for me, because I can't envisage me ever using their power. Contrary to what intel believe (Isn't that a controversial beginning to a sentence!) We need faster cores, not more of them. I'm guessing since they're unable to produce faster cores, they've just decided to make more.

If people like us can overclock them to speeds of 3GHz +, then they should ship them with better coolers and factory overclock them.

They should make some deal with zalman or some other cooling company.

Nope, because they need to be able to fleece money out of people for the higher end CPUs!

    OK, best of luck!
(Although assuming you've got half decent memory, power supply and motherboard, alogn with some Arctic silver, it'll be a piece of cake!)

As far as I know the going rate for overclocking a Q6600 on air is around 3.0-3.2Ghz, nowhere near as good as a Dual.

What about with a watercooling set up like mine? Do you think I might get 3.6+

    sammorris,
I think it's going to take some time for software to better utilize all the power inherent in the Quad cores. Given time, I think they will offer quite a lot in the future, especially in games!

Hi guys, quick question: is it possible to overclock667MHz memory to 800MHz or is that just too much, I only overclock CPUs, so i dont know much about ram, the RAM in question is Corsair CM2X1024-5400C4 2x1GB DDR2 Xtreme Perf.

    thanks!
