No wonder. So, do you Ggabyte fans think they'd RMA my old rev 1.03 for what little issues it had and move to rev 3.xx or let me up to X38-DQ6T instead?

They let Russ move up to a P35 board you you could try and they just might let you.

WIth regard to graphics, unless you're on a very tight budget, I recommend almost everyone an HD3850 at the moment. They're relatively inexpensive, offer superb picture quality, are immensely powerful for gaming purposes, and support HD video of all shapes and sizes.
    If you really can't stretch to a 3850, I'd recommend a 2600XT.

I assume that's the 256MB version though. For anyone who plays PC games, I'd recommend getting the 512MB version.

Indeed not, but if a job's worth doing, it's worth doing well. At high resolutions (1680x1050 and above) a large number of games aren't playable on the 256MB version if you use AA and AF, simply due to the lack of available memory on the card.

Well, let's be honest, you're always selling your PC! At least that way you don't have to worry about buying futureproof components, since you never keep them more than a month!

Heh, yeah I guess I do. It's mostly so I never have parts that are TOO outdated.

Too outdated? You've only just bought them!
Also, is there a 500W VX now? Or are there still just the 450 and 550, seems a bit of a waste making that many versions.

It's probably just the 550VX, oh well.

    abuzar1,
As long as you can turn a profit doing it, you can continue to upgrade at little or no real cost! LOL!!

    Best Regards,
    Russ

Yeah I tend to make a little profit so when I build my new PC it a bit more powerful.

One of my mates is brilliant at component choices. Most of his old PC parts he can sell on ebay for as much as he paid for them. In some cases, he'd owned them for more than 2 years! Talk about a free PC!

hey, if an E2140 can clock to 3.2Ghz easily, then does that mean E2160 can clock to 3.6Ghz easily? or is there a wall?

Haha no way. I think 3.2 Ghz is max for them up to the E6300/E6320. Now if you have a E6400 you MIGHT get it up to 3.5 Ghz. I managed to do it some time ago, but I better RAM then PC-6400.

    GTR35,
I don't know about the easily part. Much depends on the motherboard, power supply and memory. An E2140 can hit 3.2GHz but it takes good high quality components to do it. It's not going to happen on a $50 motherboard with a $49 power supply and junk memory. If you read the reviews on the 2140 (discounting the Idiot Factor), most are getting between 2.6 and 3GHz out of them, which is reasonable. It does suffer a bit too, because of the 1MB cache memory. My E6750 was much faster at the same 3.2gHz than the E4300 because of the 4MB of cache memory vs the 2MB of the 4300.

Hey, Quality in = Quality out! LOL!!

    Best Regards,
    Russ

Good advice Russ. :D I'll be interested to see what this E6850 will do since I have "quality" RAM, MOBO, and CPU... I hope the GPU doesn't matter in this case. Like I told my buddy I'm not really "interested or care" about scores but I'd like to see how FAR the E6850 will go. :D
