IMO, NFS PS wasn't that great anyways. Don't bother. It used way to much power for the type of game it was. MW or U2 was better imo. http://www.gamespot.com/search.html?qs=Need+for+Speed+PC&x=0&y=0
It probably won't even install without hardware T&L or enough video memory. core2kid: Agreed, I didn't like it very much either.
mw was miles better, but we shouldnt knock them for trying somthing new. i think i have hurt my board but on the plus side its still working. i just fitted the noctua and whilst i was pushing the 2nd pin thru it made an ugly cracking sound. i think it came from the nb not the pcb....eerr....bit scared. i dropped my clock from 500x7 to 400x8 and its up and running but it took an age for windoz to load, think i might of pushed that luck a bit too far??? temps have dropped quite a bit tho but i guess the 20% drop in speed might of hlepd too.
Wish you luck man. I have my System totally stabilized at 3.2Ghz right now. Load temps seemed to have dropped about 10C after I lower the vcore. This vdroop mod really came in handy.
Thought this was a tread to help folks on a budget and wanting to learn. Unless you're giving him a new mobo, then let's help use what he has in hand or by least possable. I would get that quality, used !865PE mobo. $50.00 is better then $400.00 Remember, new computer from that vintage, means new everything except maybe old EIDE optical & HDD on same mobo, but even that is down to "1" 2ch IDE now. Oh ya, you just might be able to use your old case. Anywayz, we're all here to help make the best of what we do have.
@sleepy 92 Instead of wasting money upgrading that machine just go out and buy a $500 PC. Many of them come with 1 Gb of ram, Core 2 Duo's, and a integrated graphics of the nVidia 6600 variety. This money would be much better spent than planning on upgrading your current PC.
its much easier and cheaper to update my current pc... I will post a pic of my pc spec later coz i dont have time right now
You can't link a photo that way, I cannot see things on your hard drive. You need to upload the photo to a sharing website such as photobucket and then link us there using the codes.
He already said that his socket type was s478. The real issue will be the FSB, will his current mobo support a 800mhz FSB cpu or even a 533mhz FSB cpu? If it does then he can really get a nice gain in performance. (a 533 mhz P4 @ 3.06ghz or a 800 mhz P4 @3.2ghz)
