Well the Motherboard, and the ram were bought in june/august brand new. Ive switched the ram around and still no overclocking. My cpu is probably the oldest piece but other than not overclocking, no problems.
One thing I found in Windows 7 if the usac isn't turned off it won't save any settings or software added on. Ie microsoft mouse won't save the software for side button settings etc, or for example AV, a window will pop up tp turn it on cause it's off.It also takes away the sccreen that says only administrator rights when youchange programs. With it on it will keep the settings till you reboot. Also with uac on it will take about 4 or 5 minutes to boot compared to 1 1/2 to 2 minutes.
Code: EWOcelot If every suggestion offered here has been done then you have failing hardware. Could be your power supply, processor, hard drive, memory, or motherboard. You decide, but it's all that left. What worked before and doesn't work now, will, unless somethings been changed.
EWOcelot, What revision is your DS3R? I have revision 2.0. When you download a bios you need to be very careful that the bios you download is for your revision, not just the Model! I'm running the F11 bios in mine, and it did reduce the temps from what F10 showed. I've had an E4300 to 3.3GHz and my E6750 to 3.70GHz with no issues in it. I even had a D-940 to 3.6GHz in it while my E6750 was being RMA'd. My speed is currently at 3.55GHz at 1.41v because I sold it that way (It get's picked up Tuesday)! Best Regards, Russ
also is it normal for it to have nothing on the jumper pins? Ive compared two different boards and one has bridge connecting the pins and my EP35 does not.
EWOcelot, Very normal. Usually they only put jumpers on what's needed, the rest remain bare! Find out what the jumper is supposed to be for, in the manual and let us know what it is! Russ
Bios for the ga-p35-ds3r rev 2.1 http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_Model.aspx?ProductID=2746
I used to have the board but I sold the system that it was in. Some bios' work better than others and the newer ones aren't always the best for overclocking so you might want to review some previous bios' that are known to facilitate overclocking. My best guess here however is that piece of your hardware important for overclocking has taken all the beating that you can give it and will now only operate at a lower clock speed, or it is about ready to expire.
EWOcelot, The best bios to date is the F11. It runs cooler than F10, and overclocks better. I had no trouble hitting 3.8GHz at 1.44v with my E6750 on mine! As you can see from these temps and fan speeds, with the computer being on for almost 3 hours at 3.55GHz, why I have no fears selling it as is! Ambient Temp is 76F! Best Regards, Russ
Hm! isn't this the same board that you tried to create fusion with and RMA'd a few times before giving up the dream of a truly cheap power source?LOL
ROFLMSOAO!! No this is my current GA-P35-DS3R V2.0. Same bios as his! If it wasn't sold, I would be sitting at a very comfortable 3.8GHz right now! Benchmarked well into E8400 territory! High 13's 1M SuperPi, Low 12 min, 32M! Cools as per my usual! My Customer is going to love it come Tuesday! She's replacing my old P4 Prescot socket 478 with it (P4P800se)! She's in for a bit of a shock performance wise! ROFL!! Best Regards, Russ
