Pull the battery with the PSU switched off for about 5 minutes then. I'm pretty sure you are not going to get anywhere if you don't. It can't be that hard to temporarily remove the video card! I tried every setting I could think of, and nothing worked but clearing the CMOS!

    Shaff,
As far as I've seen more and more motherboards are coming with them, usually but not always, on the highest priced models. I know Asus has them only with the high priced spread! LOL!! I personally don't like them when they are mounted on the rear panel of the MB, because it only takes one little slip in moving the computer to mess things up, especially if it happens to be running at the time. I don't know what it would do, but I can't be anything good as the CMOS is under power from the battery's charger at the time. I usually just pull the battery most times if I'm uncertain.

    Best Regards,
    Russ

You must be joking, Asus ROG boards are the only ones I've ever seen use them. Besides, it must have been three years + since I've had to reset the CMOS on any board I've owned.

Maybe not high-end, but it's a DFI. Think about that for a moment :p

We could do with some specifics so we can help you out:
    CPU
    Motherboard
    RAM
    Power Supply
Graphics card (for power draw reasons)
    Case & cooler(s)

The PSU info you have to read off the sticker, the case you'll either have to know or tell us where you bought it from.
Chances are if you don't know what's in the PC you bought it from a company like HP or Dell, and if you did, it can't be overclocked. Don't let anyone tell you about pin-mods either, I don't trust them.

A Sempron 2400+ won't be very upgradeable, especially in an SiS board. You could get literally 10x the performance of that system by building a cheap new one.

Then make do with what you have, realistically.

    Shaff,
DFI has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to certain features. They just didn't make much in the way of modern motherboards until more recent years. It wasn't that long ago that they concentrated on P3 and P4 motherboards. Even then, they built for the enthusiast market!

Nope! Don't want to get into another motherboard war! LOL!! :) Don't want to get into any wars at all ever again! Life is too short to spend it fighting!

    Best Regards,
    Russ

You can add more RAM, that will help in some areas. Routine maintenance like disk defragment & cleanup, clearing out your browser temporary files and so on will restore it to how it was when new, but to gain extra performance you'll need newer stuff, and finding components that old will cost so much it's little cheaper than buying a far superior new system. What can you realistially spend? It's possible to only change the CPU, RAM and motherboard for a good upgrade at minimal expense.
