Indeed, but it's more bearable, and you're partly paying extra for a better cooler as well... :p

let me chime in on this one...lol move over GPU guys...he's talking encodeing/ripping burning the real reason t obuild a PC...lmao

the GPU wil let you play the HD/blueray at a good quality, but you will need a blueray drive to rip them. and those are kinda costly STILL.
as far as the editing/encodeing goes. the gpu dont have anything to do with that. its the drives you have and the programs you use that allows for HD/Blueray..once again they are coslty.

are you doing more HD or blueray?

Soph here he is into encodeing the larger hd/blueray stuff. he would be a great help to you with what he knows about that...
what CPU are you going with to do the hd/blueray..???

    edit:
you guys are really gonna make me break down and get a better GPU...but once again if i need a bigger CPU to play the game a bigger GPU isnt gonna matter will it?

    time for some COD4

nah mate i'll just be encoding bog standard dvd's not blueray or anything like that. I just want to make sure that i can view blueray disks on maximum resolution without the pc breaking a sweat or anything. The games aspect i'll be honest if im that intrested in playing a game i'd just grab it for the 360. I will be using the pc on a hdtv which i'll be using as a monitor

    my question is pretty basic:

Would the cheaper cards affect the pc's ability to play blueray disks to maximum resolution. This was one of the main reasons i wanted to go for a mid range gfx card

Best I've done is 93 seconds (down and up) that is using 4 cores at boot and changing registry to kill process in 2 seconds on shutdown.

abuzar1 I had the 64 bit Vista and not starting anything, just wasn't my cup of tea for the problems. I'm not a gamer mainly encoding etc. My comparisons between the 2 computers between 64 and 32bit XP Pro on identical set ups mobos hardware software drives put me at a waste for the 64 bit.The memory exchange between 2gig and 4gig wasn't worth the price difference. Just my opinion from comparison.

    spamual,
Seems a bit short in the cooling department! Cheap-ass heatsink, and no cooling for the VRMs and mosfets. What's up with that? The biggest thing is that it has all those nice controls, but they wind up being in a very poor location and very hard to get at when installed in a case.

$712 USD! You've got to be kidding! No motherboard is worth that kind of money! I won't be looking for an X58 MB for at least 6 months. With all the delays with chipset problems (Intel's fault), MB development is going to be behind when Core i7 comes out anyway, even worse than usual!

I do have a question about something you said above. Why do you call this an OCer dream! At this point no one has any real idea of how good this MB will be. It could also turn out to be a colossal flop! LOL!! It wouldn't be the first time.

I have another question! With all the bells and whistles of the higher priced Asus motherboards, how come all the record overclocks seem to be on MSI, Abit, DFI and Biostar motherboards for the most part. That's why I questioned you calling this X58 an OCer dream, as lesser motherboards seem to dominate most of the overclocking records! Just curious???

    Best Regards,
    Russ

    ahh... hehe

it was just a thought tbh, i mean from its features, it does seem to be :D

and asus have had world record, infact most of the 3d markers use asus in the top 5.

3/5 in vantage are asus, while the top 2 are EVGA, and in 06 4/5 use an ASUS mobo, with the top one being asus.

    not breaking records.....

but let me state liek boozer i will use any manufacturer, i am not a fanboy, sam can atest to that in the GPU department, just i make most of my recomendations with things i have used/using/ people i know using/ are similar to my product.

so i do recomend more asus boards than GB, but if you take a look in the other forums i use, where i do my weekly recomendations for a range of set budgets, and different types of users, i recommend ALOT of GBs, and in my customer builds i use GBs.

never once have i put down GB. i said their bios wasnt for me, but that was it.

no wiat, ok i lie, i did make fun of their fisher price like colouring LOL!

as for that board, im sure you can tell its not a finished article?

also the OCing can be done on an LCD screen provided, through USB, so you would not need to physically touch those jumpers, but benchers, might use them on the fly in their bench set ups, where they wont be obscured.

also i didnt know the price, nor did i say i wanted to buy it, if you assumed so. i wont be buying i7 till october next year anywho, so hopefully it will be X48 by then.

i know it hasnt been benched, and ideally i shouldy have written hopefully, but it was written in a jokey manner, i wasnt being serious about it.

do you have asus that much that any post about it turns defennsive?

    oh btw, http://www.nordichardware.com/news,7963.html

    [/img]http://www.nordichardware.com/image3.php?id=5444[/img]

yes biostar have now beaten it, but back when they did this, it broke a world record...
should i just completely stop posting anything about asus?

the fasted 3dmark vantage intel chipset is an asus mobo, and the fastest nvidia in 3dmark06 is asus....

    just saying!

(notice how i am backing up my statements)

navskin:Bad PSU = death. Change it NOW.
Spam: Not quite 0 problems, it has no 3.5" bay.. :p
Theone: Indeed, those will be a right pain to access when the system's installed. They want to be at the bottom, not the side.

i know what you are saying about the PSU, but for now it will have to do. The thing about the 3.5 bay do you mean that i have no floppy bay that i am not that much bothered about. i have noticed that i can use non of the other pci slot and the other pci-e slot and i need to use them for a tv card. so i really need the extension cable if you know of one. thanks and can you give some feedback on the rig what you think.
