its a virtual machine. it is like an emulator that allows you to run another operating system inside your current os. so if you are running xp you could use a vm to install linux or windows 95 or anything else.

When I was in sales for the CAD/CAM industry (mid-late 70's), I sold 80MB multi-head/multi-platter Disk drives (that needed 220V for power) for $56,000 USD. The 300MB version cost $80,000. . . . and we thought they were incredibly big! In the early 1990's, 500MB SCSI drives from SUN Microsystems cost $5,800 each.

Back to the future - thank you.

Man, hard disks are such antiquated devices if you think about it...

    spaul40,
I had a Kaypro II someone gave me years ago. It was a Z80 (Zilog) based CPM machine with two horizontal 5 1/4 drives vs the Compaq's vertical ones, with a 9" screen. The keyboard (complete with a standard phone jack) was the cover, and the handle locked in place to angle the thing upwards so you could see the CRT at a better angle. The company's founder, Andrew Kay was also the inventor of the Digital voltmeter!

You need the x86 folder. It will install most of your apps there. Only apps that are specially designed for 64bit will install in the normal program files.

It was installing all my programs their, but I moved them 2 the Program Files. They seem 2 work OK, all other installations I've been putting in Program Files also & they work. Will this create a conflict down the road. Should I put everything back in 86

It's prbably best, I don't see why they need to be moved anyway, and I had hideous complications the last time I messed with program files.

As posted earlier, I just installed Vista64. I've got a problem, Running U Torrent,5 Explorer Windows,5 Firefox Tabs, my mouse freezes for about a minute & a half. When I get control of it back, nothing will respond to it, I can't open anything, I have to hit the reset button & restart. Does anybody have a solution to this

Hey guys I got a problem here with my CPU. The temps have rissen somewhat lately, so I decided to clock back down to stock too see if there is a difference, but I haven't see any so far. Before I used to get avg core temps of about 35-36C at 76F room temp, but now the temps are 39, 37, 39, 39 at the same or cooler room temp. Right now temps are 37, 34, 37, 37 at 71-72F room temp. What's more is that realtemp reports my VID at 1.25 all the time, even after I clocked down and reduced it to 1.18. CPU OC damage or something else? Can you guys help? Thanks.

VID is not the core voltage. VID is the voltage your system is MEANT to use, not what it actually uses, which is what I tried to stress earlier.
