You know what! This just hasn't been my week! First I'm trying to help mrk44 solve a simple problem with his memory dividers, and up pops Morty with his little smart ass Asus digs about dividers. Then Spamual has to get into the act with more of the same Asus crap. Along comes Sam answering a post with no quote that I didn't write, greensman did, but Sam says it's my post so I go back and look and find nothing written by me to indicate what the hell he's talking about and then greensman replies, "You have to remember a few things Sammy... Russ is "old", "senile", and "cantankerous" at times.. hehehe. :p"! I fire back with a little humor of my own suddenly now it's off topic. I guess it's all right to be humorous as long as the one being made fun of is some Old, Senile and Cantankerous person like me! Here's a helpful hint! I may be old and I can be cantankerous, but I'm not Senile!

This isn't a thread, it's a frikkin Zoo! I've had it! Now I understand fully why LOCO won't come near this thread. I'm tired of hearing "a Russ Moment", or "a Senior Moment"! I'm tired of all the sniping all the time. This wasn't what I joined AD for. It's also not a shadow of what it was like when I joined back in 05. The biggest difference today is the level of respect. Back then we might not all have agreed on something, but we respected other peoples opinions. Most of all we listened and learned from each other. Here, some people go out of their way to make trouble where there's no reason or need for it. And please don't say that it isn't true, because there's no other plausible reason for all the smart remarks! This thread has lost some of the best talent on the internet because of all this bullsh!t. It's a damn soap opera and I no longer want any part of it. I'm un-checking the little boxes at the bottom of the page so I won't get e-mail notifications. If anyone has anything they want to say, PM me! I'll still contribute to other threads at AD, but I'm not coming back here ever again. To the people who look to me for help or advice here, I'm sorry, but that's the way it has to be! You know where to find me!

    Sincerely,
    Russ

i know the corsair dominators are some good mem and well liked here. take a look at this link of some mushkin mem. it is only DDR2 800 but they will OC to 1066 with ease, i have mine OC'd to 1066 and they are smooth as a baby's bottom. no problems what so ever. this link is for the 2x2gb sticks i have the 1x2gb sticks..awesome stuff

plus buying a E8400 now you most likely will get a E0 stepping.
are you buying it from newegg? or someplace you can pick it out yourself?

as for your hdd choices let me toss in another two to look at.

this one has 32mb cache and a 5 year warranty

and i have this WD hdd i like it as well as my seagate.fast and no noise what so ever..

This is my CPU, including a shot of the aD page to show I haven't just stolen it ;-)
    http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/5505/q9550ao4.jpg
I saw someone advertising specifically an E0 stepping, with photographic proof of the box for it being the right stepping , I forget which five letters it as now.

As far as Russ goes, there hasn't been a single joke on either of these two pages at your expense.

    Here's what I meant:

Gm writes: "I'd stick with the P5Q Deluxe or Premium for the -> Inverted commas are here "lower" <----- priced mobos"
Sorry, perhaps I should have called them speech or quote marks, but it's not really a quote...

You write: How do you figure that a $190 P5Q Deluxe motherboard is lower priced? LOL!! Compared to what, a Maximus Formula?

I write (in response to your post): Pretty much, hence the inverted commas... lol

As far as I see it Spamual's post had nothing to do with your sometimes over-use of the lol acronyms, it's a joke that just generally gets spread around, using exclamation marks and ones, typically by gamers, so you may not have encountered it, and understand it's real meaning (Don't ask, it really doesn't mean much)

cincyrob: I was gonna put an AD-7200S in there, but at the time, newegg apparently didn't have it in stock, but now they do, so that's what i'll be getting :)
The Corsair mem is only 5 bucks more and it's already at 1066 and everything so i'll just stick w/ those.
About the HDD: I have a seagate drive right now, and it's really loud. And the WD Caviar Black is supposedly a lot faster anyway.
    Thanks for the suggestions!

bigwill: I was gonna get a cooler master stack 810 for the case. Either that or a cooler master HAF932 like mine.

Has anyone else had trouble posting today?

Call her and ask for the password. If you bought it legitimately then she should have no issues giving it to you. ;)

Assuming you have XP, this is the procedure for resetting password.

Windows XP has a hidden Administrator account. It can be used to troubleshoot the computer's other accounts. That includes changing passwords. To get to it, you'll have to boot your computer in Safe Mode.

First, restart the computer. As it starts, repeatedly press the F8 key. Instead of the familiar Windows screen, you'll see a text-only Advanced Options Menu. Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode. Then press Enter.

Select the Administrator account. By default on most computers, it requires no password. Once logged in, you can change the password of the account you normally use.

To make the change, click Start>>Run. In the box, type "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes) and click OK. Select your normal account name in the list. Click the Reset Password button. You'll be prompted for a new password. You can restart the computer and use the new password on the Administrator account.

Nope, and it is more complicated, but it can be done.

    BTW, this is WAY OT.

I have been reading this thread religiouly for at least 4 months now (this month, I will be building a Core i7 rig) and for the life of me, I cannot see what is making some of the members angry to the point to where they are leaving the thread. (I am one of the old timers - not a newbee.) If someone doesn't like the way some people post, just don't read their posts. It's simple!

New subject: The Newegg only shows one cooler for the LGA 1366 socket/chip. What is everyone out there using for a CPU cooler? Are there any water blocks out yet for this chip?

Thanks for all the information. You guys are good.

Hi, I am going to add 2GB more to my system soon and have a question about about the Corsair Airflow fan and overall system heat. Right now I have 2 X 1GB XMS2 PC28500 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145043 ) am deciding between getting another 2GB of what I have, or getting the RAM with the fan ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145173 ). My question is should I get the fan to keep the RAM cool and if so will it negatively affect the overall case temperature? As always any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Parker

Both at ebuyer and newegg, having the fan bizarrely works out cheaper than not having it, but in all honesty, it's unnecessary. The dominators run at least 20ºC cooler than the normal XMS2 sticks as is.

Thanks sammorris and bigwill68; I'll save my money and just get the RAM.

    Parker,
Right now you might want to consider these. Pretty tough to beat for $15 after $30 MIR. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145043 You will get the rebate and can check on line to be sure. Sell what you got or use it for something else. The best thing is you won't be using all 4 memory slots, which can cause problems in an overclocked machine. I have them in mine and find they run quite cool at 2.1v at 5-5-5-15 @1066MHz. You'll wind up with twice the memory for almost nothing. Just a suggestion.

BTW, you don't want to be mixing different models of memory anyway. It's always best to duplicate what you have in the computer. There's always far less headaches that way.

    Regards,
    Russ
