    Parker,
For the $60 final cost get the ones with the fans. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145197
2x2GB would be great and just sell or use the old memory It's the same memory anyway, and as you pointed out, it's cheaper. I doubt that you'll need the fans though, but the should prove useful somewhere. When Corsair designed the fans, it sounded like a great idea at the time. Problem was most aftermarket CPU coolers blow front to back, pulling more then enough airflow over the fins on the memory to keep it running very cool. They are barely warm to the touch and will run all day long at 1066MHz without problems. I wouldn't advise trying to overclock it though considering that PC28500 is 800MHz memory that's overclocked 266MHz, and guaranteed to do it! It should fluff up your memory bandwidth pretty good.

    Best Regards,
    Russ

    Russ,

Thanks again for the advice. I'll probably go with the 2 x 2Gb for $60 and store the fan somewhere as I don't think I'll need it and like you said my cpu's HSF does a good job of moving air across the RAM. As far as overclocking goes I wasn't planning doing it because, as you already mentioned, they are already OC'd pretty much to their max.

    Thanks,

    Parker

The freezer 7 pro is much better, and for the sake of less than 10 extra dollars, it's crazy not to buy one.

From what I've read on other forums and the companies themselves the thing to do is request or ask about alternate hardware for the i7 cpus. I'm pretty sure there are a few of the cpu coolers that will work with the i7 but unfortunately I don't have that information atm. I'll look as some of the others already have I'm sure. Good luck with your build mate. ;)

OH and I don't think we compare to the PGA Tour guys but some of us (me NOT included) are pretty good. ;)

    Again good luck to you....

The Ultra-120 Extreme is now in Socket 1366 form, so that's my recommendation for now :)
For AMD coolers, the Freezer 64 Pro will be more than adequate for a dual core - get the 5400+, it's faster, the 5050e is just a more energy efficient CPU, but it's slower.

rick I would go with the 5050e for a couple of reasons. More efficient and less money to start with. IF going with another cpu I'd consider one of these but remember power consumption is more with both of these at full tilt. ;) link to AMD cpu's

This cpu cooler should cover all your needs. link to ACF 64

    Rick,
Neither is any better than the Freezer 64! The COOLER MASTER RR-CCH-LB12-GP 120mm is also very loud. The freezer 64's fan can be easily replaced if needed for about $6, and no tools needed!

I just built a machine with these same core components (the mobo was MA78G-DS3H, so pretty close) and it is a fine system. Am posting from it as a matter of fact.

    Will,
With all due respect, it's overkill! It's a noisy alternative that you just don't need! Even overclocked these newer CPUs run very cool, and the Freezer 64 under control of the MB is a great match for them. The one on my 64x2 4800+ never goes over 37C at idle and 42C while encoding, and there's no AC, only a Swamp Cooler. In the summertime, it's usually 30C to 33C room temperature in there. The big cooler master is a very good cooler for a socket 754 or a socket 939, but the new chips don't make enough heat to need it. Specs are a good thing to read, but they all fudge just a bit, even Arctic! I'll believe that 19dba when the sun rises in the west, and you don't need more airflow if it's cool enough to begin with! LOL!! Some even do comparative testing between brands and models, but there's winds up being tested in a 55F (10C) room. stuff like that! Besides, there has to be some reason the Freezer 64 is the best selling AMD cooler by a pretty wide margin, and has been for a couple of years now! There's no brand loyalty involved with the Freezer 64, it's just a very good cooler for AMD Socket AM2 and AM2+ computers. A single 92mm rear fan is all that's necessary on my 4800+ using the freezer 64, to keep it cool.

    Respectfully,
    Russ

I like the big CM cooler but likes aside the price and ability of the ACF 64 will do just fine. Yes the fan is smaller and maybe quieter but in reality the fan on the CM is loud as I have a few Cooler Master fans and unless they are below 75% they are LOUD for sure. Good fans for the money but at full tilt they can be annoying.

hope this helps in some way... ;)
