When I installed the replacement E6750 on the P35-DS3R, I had the FSB to 463MHz x8 for 3.7GHz before I backed it down. I was shooting for 475MHz x8 which would have put it right at 3.8GHz. LOL!! The original one I hurt by running the FSB at 500MHz for 4.0GHz. The original one always needed more voltage than the replacement, even for a mild OC! I sold it at 3.552GHz at 1.29v. Still running great! She loves it!

Quad core + 4GB RAM + both PCIe slots filled + double-bandwidth chipset = more difficult to raise FSB.

sam its unfair to compare FSB to HTT. QPIform the I7s can be compared that they hit about 215-220 on air. depending on the mobo

No, it was more a joke, I'm aware they aren't directly comparable.

    MUNKYEARS,
If you put a fan in each fan hole on that thing you would have to chain it to the desk. Otherwise, it might take off! LOL!!

    Oman7,
Where are you finding out this information. As far as I know this MB will only support the older Athlon, Athlon x2, and Phenom. The newest CPU you can put in it is the 7*** series, and they will work but you can't overclock them if they have B3 stepping! The information on that MB is confusing to say the least. Newegg lists it as a socket AM2+/AM2, which is incorrect. It's strictly AM2, so it's no good for any of the newer x2, x3, and x4s. The only reason the 7*** series works is they are Phenom based! The Callisto's won't work at all, so anything that is Phenom II based is out!

It's distressing to find out just how hard Asus makes it just to find out what's compatible with a given motherboard! Most other companies link this info right from the product page. I guess Asus is above all that! All I can say is it's a good thing most of their products work better than their site does! LOL!!

    Best Regards,
    Russ

Their site refers to the 7--- series processors as am2+ processors. Is this incorrect?

Dru3692. That board will not support PhenomII processors. The board is outdated.

Technically they aren't, being based on two cores of a Phenom. I know it took a bios flash for all the AM2+ features to work with it on mine. I guess that means it's up to Asus and whether they deem it necessary or not. Given that the board in question has been discontinued and was inexpensive to begin with, I somehow doubt that there will be any new bios support for it in the future! They want to sell more new boards not give old boards new life! My new MB will be here Tue or Wed! It's AM2/AM2+ and AM3 compatible. As long as it has the DDR2 memory controller, you can use any AMD CPU on it that works with AM2/AM2+ or AM3!

Agreed. That's business. Some people seem to take it personal. But it is simply business. If anyone of us had a business, we would work the same way. It is however unfortunate LOL!
