oen is rated to run longer IICR, its for servers IICR

IMO the much quicker and less vibrational F1 series are much better, and at a better price

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152100

BUT out of the ones you gave to choose (thats if your looking to buy) is stick with the normal 7200.11

Rob if you're looking to buy I would consider the link that Shaaf posted. I have one of the Samsung F1 750Gb drives and it's performed just fine. Of course it's only about 2 months old or so but NO problems so far. :)

And yes the ES.2 is a server rated HDD. ;)

DAMNIT!!! The stupid Tuniq tower screws. One of them is broken! My temps are 55C(CPU TEMPS, not even CORE!!!) in the BIOS. Damnit, hopefully, I get my replacement screws in soon.

It wasn't new. I bought it used unfortunately. Anyway, they guy said he has broken screws before as well and Tuniq ships him out new ones. All is well I suppose.

I bit the bullet and installed Vista 64 bit ;)

    cincyrob,
The AS has some power saving features! I'll take the NS, Thank You! Last place I want the potential for power problems in in my HDD! LOL!!

    shaffaaf,
They don't have one to test! It doesn't exist yet! Most of what you are reading here is speculation based on the hope that it will be good! No one knows yet, what it can do! The last I heard about it was that it will be on the market in February, as a parting shot for the current round of CPUs! Next stop! Still, you'll need the MB and new memory, just to raise your present OC a bit! I'll wait for the new stuff due out Last Quarter 08! The chioces will be more plentiful and the prices lower!

    Best regards,
    Russ

Rob, thanks. Well as far as experience goes, I have built about 15 computers before this. So I think this is just bad luck as well. Thanks for the encouragement and I hope I can get this sorted out. Cant wait to OC but that will have to wait a bit.

Krj, yes I hope I have better luck also! lol I have a stock PENTIUM DUAL CORE cooler. It's probably not good enough. Seriously though, this is a testament to how good the Tuniq Tower is. I had a Xigamatek in the same position and it had temps upto 70 because it wasn't making good contact. Anyway the computer is FUNCTIONAL(I managed to Install Vista) but I will stop using it till the replacements come in).

    abuzar1,
Apparently the Rampage Extreme! No one has one or has tested one that I can find on the net! Many sites mention reviews only to just supply additional details released by Asus! None are offered for sale yet either! Lots of Rampage Formulas, but no Rampage Extremes! A couple of the links I looked at said February! Asus own site only has the press release from July 8, 2008 and nothing else! There's no date as to when it will be for sale mentioned either!

    EDIT: for correct model!

    Oh, alright

Turns out the Tuniq tower's screws breaking is a common problem.

Screw this. I'm going to Lowes tomorrow and buying me some M3 x 30 screws and M3 washers

P.S. Seems like the P5K Pro's power saving feature works, EVEN when OCed!

Ripping BluRays does require some serious meat. If anything I'd say that's what Nehalem is going to be made for.

russ you got the name wrong, its ntot he rampage formula extreme, its the rampage extreme, there is also a rampage formula, which is DDR2.

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...X48 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard

and yes they are up for sale.

and that did have it im sure, as they had pictures of a very extensive bios, and they told us the exact increments of voltages etc withing each option in the bios, for OCing.

I can't say whether or not this will help but when I was mounting my water block I decided to do away with the standard clips and went to the local hardware store and picked up some bolts and nuts to mount it with. This is an early pre boot photo taken right after I finished mounting it and adding some cards. Note the nice shiny bolts.

Is it worth it to wait for nehalem? It sounds promising, but it comes out around September and the mobos come around October. It would be expensive considering the switch to DDR3, but is it worth it? I was planning on building a new rig with a q9450 and I would not want it to be obsolete in like 6 months.

Yes, it will be worth it. Nehalem will be MUCH faster than a Q9450.

Oh and Soph, I found out the exact screw size. So I can go buy it now. Thanks though.

That depends on how badly you need a new build. My last build was a very economical one because I was able to recycle a lot of parts. I personally will not consider a complete build at this time for two reasons. The first is the added power that Nehalem has the potential to bring which is needed for Blu-Ray decoding and encoding, and the second is if Nehalem turns out to be more hype than reality. If it turns out to be hype then one should still be able to reap the rewards of reduced prices on current products. My hope that not only will Nehalem be everything that I've heard it is going to be, and a decent overclocker too. I wonder however if having on chip memory controllers will have the effect of lowering overclock potential. If that is true and current processors continue to be overclock champs then Nehalem may not have much to offer in overall performance, but if it is a great overclocker then Nehalem is in my near future.

if you have the cash and dont mind the extra cost this early, it is worth it. but being the first product out. you will be the testing rat so to say..lol

as for the being obsolete in 6 months. wont be obsolete, but there will be newer products out. it will always be that way no matter what you go with. the Nehalems that are comeing out in sept, 6 months down the road there will be even a different batch of them that will be better(so to say).

myself if I had the need for a quad the Q9450 you are talking about would be the best choice for a build
