    Oman7,
DUH!!! What do you think all those louvers are for on the top of the stereo, to keep your toast and coffee warm! LOL!! It's very doubtful that the stereo has a fan, as they usually don't. You need to find another place for that monitor. I don't understand why on earth didn't you move the monitor when you discovered how warm it was to begin with?

Because the vent is large, and the monitor is only covering maybe half of it. Though I just looked, and it looks like there is something in there separating one half of the receiver. So basically, one half of the receiver is not exhausting. I'm gonna rethink the monitor situation LOL!
I unblocked the hole. Now lets see how warm it gets LOL!

It could be 12V as that is common for a lot of electrical devices, but it could also be 5V, or a.c. mains voltage (unlikely for a stereo receiver, more common for devices with mains-powered components)
Most receivers don't contain fans unless they are very compact and contain large amplifiers.

Its a fairly powerful receiver. It weighs upwards of 25lbs LOL! Maybe 30+...

Boy do I feel silly. That receiver puts out some serious heat out the vent. Covering it up was NOT a good idea LOL! I currently have the monitor still there, but raised up and positioned on stands. VERY warm nearly hot air comes out of there. I might consider a fan if it doesn't employ one. It might increase its longevity ;)

Most stuff like that is designed to run hot. As long as you can touch it without it becoming too hot to bear, it's fine.

    Sam,
Most receivers here in the US have AC mains. They convert the power to low voltage DC just like a PSU. The amount of DC voltage depends on the design. Even in the day of tubes, they still converted to low voltage DC current for the electronics.

I've never even seen fans in a receiver, but I have seen them in high Power amps!

Yes I know that, but usually if all the electronics run off low voltage DC, so will the fan. Only when most of the components of a device run off mains voltage is the fan powered by it.

man i love this modular PSU and i dont even have it in tower yet. for 1 love it that its all black, minus the dark blue corsair lettering, i untied the 24pin and 8pin cables to see how long they were. id say they are bout 6 inches longer than my TX650. 3 sata connectors with 3 plugins on each is really nice. then 4 yes 4 PCIe cables, and 2 ide cables with 3 plugins on it.. which i wont be needing those as i will not have anything IDE in this build. TBH the prettiest thing i got today to finish receiving all my parts has to be the new Optairc AD7240S odd.. sweetest thing since melted chocolate....lol might have to get me 3 more of them.. maybe even a external one.. or 3..lol im joking now. i cant get that many. GM would get jelous and have to get a couple more to collect dust on...lol

It's truly sad it is!! btw... one of the ones in plastic is a AD-7200S. :D :D :D

Well, according to tracking, Western Digital got the RMA'd Velociraptor today. So hopefully they'll be contacting me about the skinny before too long :) I hope this goes ok. Never done an RMA through them before, and their procedure for making everything perfect was rather intimidating LOL! Should be ok though...

Yeah, you can still buy 80s, 160s, 250s, 320s and 500s of the 'old' size groups.
