I know what you mean... you just don't expect Robert to make a typo. :p

You know the 8800 back in the box didn't surprise me but the G.Skill RAM in the Mushkin box did.... hehehehe. :p I can't wait to see this thing up and "glowing". ;) He's supposed to paint the inside RED but I'm betting money he can't stand the wait and just throws the components in there!! :D

Oh wow, eagle eyed Greensman, I didn't spot that either! Must be my lack of sleep from last night.
Finally ordered my i5 750, only to find my bank blocked the payment, because I'd ordered from the same site the day before (new keyboard). All fine once I went through security and all that, but still a stressful experience. With luck, I'll be posting from the i5 tomorrow.

WOW!!!!!!!! this case is frig-gin HUGE. I can climb in this thing and take a nap.lol
Ive never had the 8800gts out of the box other than to look at it. i had to take a break for a second.i have everything in it now. just hooking up wires and such. only going to plug in 1 odd and 1 hdd at first just to get it up and running and install all the drivers needed.

GM your right i cant wait to get it painted i have to put it together now. i will paint it once i find a place that will do it for me, i want it done right and look good. oh yea you better not mess with Justin's cars crocks..lol as for the g-skill mem in the mushkin box, i just put them in the first mem box i came to yesterday when it put the E8400 rig back together and the mushkin mem is in this rig(E8400).. OK breaks over time to get it all together. next post i hope is on the new reincarnated BIG RED MACHINE

Rob: Heh, the 922 is huge? Get a 932 and I can climb in with you :p Even then to be fair, the 932 is small compared to the biggest cases Lian Li offer. By the sounds of it it's just as well you didn't buy the 932 as it would have been a bit of a squeeze.

yea the only true reason i wanted the 932 was because it had 6 odd bays, and the wheels for the bottom. but i can order the wheels.

ok kinda hit a snag well not really just the power cables for the sata plugins are short and they are backwards you have to turn the cables upside down to get them to fit the drives odd or hdd and then that makes the conection for the PSU really short.. i know that dont sound right but its the best i can explain it. so instead of my odds being in the top 3 spots in the case i had to drop them down one place.

question about the G-sata port(2 of them) as of right now i have my main(os)hdd plugged into g-sata0 and my "main" odd is in g-sata1 is it ok to run these there? or should i put them or the hdd on the reg sata controller? i only have the 1 hdd and odd plugged in right now until i get it up and running.

Yeah, the power connections for hard drives can be a pain when there are lots of drives right next to each other, you have to basically power drives 1, 3 and 5 off one cable, and then 2, 4 and 6 off the other, and try not to get the cables too messy. Clearly I don't spend too much time on the latter :p
The Gigabyte S-ATA controller is just as fast as the ICH from what I can gather, you shouldn't have any issues using it for your OS drive, etc.

    Rob,
I've heard of issues with the Purple ports and ODDs, but after reading more reviews, I think it's more a problem of understanding that if you want to hot swap or remove an ODD, you have to turn it off first. By unplugging one without clicking on "Safely Remove Hardware", you place the drive at risk of damage if you just unplug it. I've used the G-Sata ports for HDDs, but I never used them for ODDs. I'm currently using mine for G-Sata ports on the rear of the computer. They work as well or better than the regular Sata ports, and are slightly faster.

My 7200S is ran to one of the Gsata ports. If I install the sata drivers for those ports, nero inputs a strange signature on dvds...
Or at least it used to LOL! Since I haven't installed those drivers, there hasn't been a problem ;) The basic windows 7 drivers are working wonderfully.

shaff, they dont look that way now. i left all the extra cables hanging there until i had the system up and running once i made sure all was ok i plugged everything in and have the wires as neat as i can get them tied down now. looks alot better than those pics. and on that note. tomorrow im takeing the odds out and rearranging them. and Russ the odd that is on the purple g-sata it isnt recognized as a AD7200s it has a bunch of other letters for what it is??? im gonna put my 500gb drive on it and move the odd to the normal sata controller.

and yes it was a blast putting it together. loved every second of it.. what made this one better than the first. i had none of the troubles i did with the first build.yea i know it was my first build and i know alot more now than i did then. even so everythign went so smooth. i did get my new WD3200AAKS today. maybe this weekend i'll get my 64bit win7 and get it installed. and tinker with that, once that is done and win7 is running fine without any driver issues with my hardware. ill get me the 4gb kit of g-skill mem and then this puppy will be done.......... i need to find some peeps around me thatneed/want a puter built... it is so fun and rewarding seeing your finished product that you did yourself.

they are not all red as they have black ends unless you paint the ends red.
