    Sam,
Black does absorb heat, but it also holds it in. It doesn't radiate much at all. Like I said, that why radiators are painted light colors as they radiate more heat that way. The only reason cars have black radiators is because it's easier to hide them. White or Silver would be much better, but much harder to keep from being seen and detracts from the color of the car, unless it's black. I participated in some tests for Chrysler of an air conditioning system that used air, called Rovac. They would put 5 or 6 people in a black car after it had been sitting in the sun all day. 145-150 degrees F inside. They would fire it up and see how long it took to cool the car down. The windows had to stay up, and you could damn near die before the cooling finally took over, which took a good 7 minutes or more. It was a flop! The theory was good, but when you compress air, you get moisture, and the moisture created ice crystals, which plugged the whole system up.

Oh I wouldn't feel ashamed to own the Evo case, but the looks would take some getting used to! The RC 534 is actually a much nicer case than the pictures would indicate. Somewhat minimalistic, and a straight up design, but I bought it for it's airflow potential, and it seems to have that in spades. The fans that come in it are OK for stock computers, but you need more airflow for an overclocked computer!

Actually it works both ways. For an object to absorb more heat also means it must emit more heat. That's why black things become warm to the touch, they absorb more heat and emit more heat.

that case is simular to the 590 & 690 on the inside you can relable it and call it a cooler master for the heck of it

    simular

only reason the 690 is alittle heavier it's packing more plastic than the others and the 590 is next cause of it's hard drive bay holds same weight on it's own and it's removable...the Dimensions are close in height but the 690 wins again with platic added top and the rubber mounted floor shoes...lol

Well, it is the day time. My temperatures do rise slightly in the day time. Looks like putting the gpu lower had no effect. But, I haven't increased its fan speed yet. I usually run it at 50% idle, as opposed to 40% I can barely hear 50 :p My 550W corsair sure felt warm. Warmer than my 700W OCZ if memory serves. Hope it doesn't share that heat with my beautiful GTX 260 :p
The one on the left, was before moving the GPU lower, the one on the right is the current situation. Though I bumped up the GPU fan speed, and am running 2C cooler now.
Fan 3 is my exhaust ran to molex. Fan 2 is no doubt my HDD cooler. And fan 1...Im not sure what that is. LOL! Totally joking. I plan on replacing that next, with the 1900 slipstream. But first, I have to do some car work. Oil change and tire rotation. Fun stuff! LOL!

At the haters of my "new" Evo... :p

I almost got this one.. NOT completely against getting it for a future build either. :)

Thanks for the cooling/noise advice Russ. I might be able to squeeze some new fans into the budget if they'll make it quieter, but the bay fan is definitely out. Too much money for a system that only needs decent cooling. Are you sure about the Scythe fan being quieter then the silverstone? It would be the one to get since it's cheaper but all I've heard about Scythe fans is they move lots of air and aren't always quiet in the process. Might just a couple of the 800rpm one's, should be plenty for the job.

Based off that, I'll only be getting new fans since they'll be quieter.

I did look at the BETA EVO but I don't think she would like it, and the CM case is on Amazon for a total of 55 (free shipping, no tax) so it isn't a whole lot cheaper anyway. Contrary to what we like, the idea is to as minimalistic as possible, without ruining cooling potential. Plus it might have to operate in fairly high ambient temps so a standard hot box would make me worry. I might also try to OC it a little bit if I get the chance, against better judgment of course lol.

    TIA,

    redmaw

    GM,
I don't hate your new Evo, I just prefer the RC-534 over it. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder! LOL!! It just has an Old fashioned look to me. Sort of a step back in time to my eyes.

I like the look of the Nzxt Gamma, but it is kind of narrow at 7.48"! It might be hard to fit some CPU coolers. I do like the Modern look though, but I wish it had less of a Swiss Cheese look to it.

    Best Regards,
    Russ

    nIce job Robert. ;)

@Russ... I hear ya.. I looked at the 534 and just didn't like it. :) I really like the Scout or Storm BUT I just don't need a case that "expensive" or "nice" atm. ;) I'm wanting to do a rebuild of the system that I have and then look at getting AMD <<<yep it says AMD>>> parts for a build later.... NOTHING special, just a possible Quad with mild OC'in and 4+ GB RAM!! :) Hell I might even get another Gigabyte mobo... hehehee. :p

NOW..... on to some "heat" transfer... lol. I say the black case is going to be about the same as the 'normal' case inside... I actually think the "silver" lined case is going to reflect heat BACK into the system and even cause 'hotter' temps inside ye case. lol. Of course how much heat should stay inside the case if you have PROPER cooling going on in there... AIR FLOW I'm saying is going to EVEN out the "color" of the case... jm2¢ ... :p

See what I mean... even RED doesn't cause it to get any hotter... hehehee. :p

    GM,
You are close with the Silver lined case, but it doesn't just reflect it back into the case, but more correctly, into the case's airstream so the airflow can carry it away and out of the case leaving the case cooler! Black absorbs heat, but doesn't radiate it very well. Like I told Sam, that's why you don't see dark colored radiators, the darker the color the more heat it holds!

I'll take your word for it, and leave my case alone. Besides, I love black. It reminds me of my mood LOL! Nah, I simply just have a thing for black. Though I have more a thing for purple, as some of you may have noticed.

Ha ha! I have considered it. In fact, it occupies a good portion of my future plans! Right now though, its simply far from practical. I really need to come up with a money making scheme.
I haven't installed the slipstream yet. Lets just say, I started a process that I don't like interrupting. I may still do it tonight though.

Things just keep getting better and better. Here's a few changes for you. I fattened up the memory bandwidth right nice.

NB frequency and HT Link frequency set at 2500MHz which means the Hyper Transport speed is 5000MHz

New SuperPi now into the 22 second bracket

Things keep looking better and better! no real improvement in MIPS, but the speed things happen are unbelievable. It's just click-Bang and things open and close. I'm on the right track though

You paying attention Oman7? Class is now in session! ROFLMSOAO!!

    Stay tuned Kiddies,
    Russ
