I'm pretty sure at least one product out there for thermal paste at the moment is actually manufactured using processed diamond dust, but I forget which one...

    Fred,
For $6.99, I'm willing to give it a try. Of course I'm going to cry having to remove the NB and VRM cooler again. It's a major pita to do, but probably worth the work. I don't think it will lower my idle temps very much, but I'm more concerned with the load temps and the Chipset and VRM cooling!

One way to find out, give it a shot, I sure would, I was suprised at the price, I thought it would have been a lot more than $6.99

    Fred,
Don't forget that Natural Diamond dust is fairly cheap, and has better properties than the man made stuff! I'm going to get some and try it on the CPU first. That liquid metal stuff claims to be better, but every real world test I've seen, even AS5 is better! We'll see!

    Best Regards,
    Russ

At this point, I would pay it! My poor CPU's are averaging (Idle) 40C when both are running simultaneously. If I can get that down to even 35 I would be in hog heaven. :) Newegg doesn't have any diamond compound eh. Unfortunate. I imagine they'll catch wind of this though ;)

I have to put forward my view on this, what does it matter? Idle temps don't have any effect on performance or longevity, all you risk is extra noise, if you have sensitive fans. You want better thermal paste to cut your load temps, assuming they're high as well.

Isn't it logical to assume that if one has high idle temps, that one at least COULD have high load temps? Besides, we all want the best stuff right? LOL! If this diamond compound can save me even 2-5C, then 15$ could be worth it. Especially for phenom II 940, which runs even warmer. If I can cool 940 a few degrees, I might be able to take her to higher clocks. I won't hold my breath though. 4 Ram modules...

Looks like fate has already gotten even. Windows 7 Homegroup is still screwing with me. At least with everything managed by the switch, windows 7 finally acknowledged my Home network, one of the PC's asked me to join, and asked for the password. And yet, I still have no permission to access folders that are indeed shared folders. I shared quite literally everything, so I'm a bit at a loss. And now its time to go to work.
You won this round fate! :p <--- shakes fist wildly LOL!

    Sam,
The main point being that this was no mistake. Not 200 to 300 of them! Something happened between Intel's shipping Dept, and delivery to Newegg receiving them. Either they were stolen at Intel by someone who works for Intel, The Carrier, or someone at Newegg.

The most logical being it happened at Intel because the numbers and everything would have to match the invoice. At Newegg they are scanned into inventory individually on a conveyor belt, and scanned out when they are shipped, to remove them from inventory! It would be a great deal harder for it to be the carrier, as they only have the packing slip, and lack the information necessary to do a job like this. Newegg might be easier, but that would have to involve more than one person. Again because of the packing list. Someone in the office would have to supply authentic looking invoices from Intel.

I think Intel knows, because I'm sure Intel didn't make the dummys because the package should be exactly the same without "misspelled" words, and they would all have the same Serial number. I've been to Comdex in Vegas a number of times, and it occurs to me I've never seen stock at the show, only the processors in the machines they demonstrate, and perhaps a few spares for backup. There are no Direct wholesale or retail sales at the show! All they take is orders.

    Will,
The choices are poor of finding completely black 140mm fans. Your choices of one of these, which Sam says is a good fan, but the blade is chrome!
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835129248

Either that or it's Masscool or Cooler Master, and I don't think you need 60 CFM with a top fan that spins 1500 RPM like the MassCools!

120's are a bit easier. I don't think you could go wrong with the Scythe Slipstreams, as long as you keep it to 1200 RPM on down. The also make a PWM If you have more than one 4 pin plug on the motherboard, like mine. I may well get one of these for myself!

There's a lot more choices. I'm happy with the longevity of my first Scythe, and the next one. So far they seem to be more honest about the noise and the CFM of their fans. It's like Sam said, "you put a quiet fan in, and you suddenly hear fan noises you never noticed before". Sounds like an never ending battle to me! LOL

If the PWM fan works out, I'll put the 1200 RPM 53.35 CFM Silverstone in, in place of the lower front C/M fan, and I should be done! Then I can lower the speed on the 80mm, which will make things even quieter, and let the motherboard control the rear fan.

i no Russ,I'm trying my luck.lol...I already have 2 of the AeroCool Streamliner in my 590 case at the top if. I get 2 more. I would have remove the led lights. I may just go with that Scythe 120mm for the front fan

any talk about these. No Review yet at the egg but,I'll look around for other reviews

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...2&cm_re=140mm_case_fan-_-35-146-002-_-Product

the top exhaust fans will be controlled at 1100rpm's with my controller anyway...
I don't care about the white cause the Arctic cooling Freezer 7 Pro has a White fan on it also

and another thing...I pulled the Heatsink out to look at it my first time looking at a up to date AMD stock heatsink and first time buying one also this joker got chopper pipes ,,LOL slick...I gotta say they beat intel on the stock heatsink look!!
