I feel a warm summer coming on. I bought the diamond cooling compound :D
    Russ, a big thank you.

Fred, a big thank you. I bought from them. The reviews look good, and I'll post my findings on this wonderful site ;) I imagine it will probably help my Phenom 940 most. The poor thing as some of you know, does not have the best of cooling, and is using a stock cooler. If it drops even 3C+ than it was worth it. I worry about my PC's in the summer. They can be scorchers here. Although GM probably has warmer summers :p

By the way, I should have it thursday :p I took one for the team LOL!

No problem omeg, hope it works out ok for ya, I really don't know anything about it, but reading some of the reviews it seems ok I guess, Russ did confirm why the low cost how it's not real diamond powder or whatever but it seems close to it.

Eihter way I don't see how you can go wrong with it, it sure beats making it yourself which kinda looked complicated. Let us know how you make out.

    Will,
If not the Sapphire, I would go with the XFX. They make a very good product! I consider them better made than most!

Will: Why would you need 1GB of video memory? 512MB is enough to run even the most demanding games at 1920x1200 with AA applied. People seem to have a strange obsession with graphics memory these days. Most people wouldn't use more than 256MB. Buying a 1GB card that slow is throwing money away, as by the time you need 1GB, you need a GPU far more powerful than the HD5670.

    Sam,
I couldn't agree more. The only reason I didn't make a mistake and buy a 1GB 9500GT, is because they were all GDDR2, and I knew that meant they had the older GPU. I bought the 512 GDDR3 with the newer GPU, and came out ahead. The old GPU ran warm, shall we say. By comparison, I've yet to see mine top 57C, Playing FC-2 at medium settings and Non-Maskable AA turned on. Looks pretty good on my screen, and the game plays just fine! My choice for his Video Card:

The company is easy to deal with, and they make a quality product. Spend the extra $5 Will. The XFX is worth it!

    Best Regards,
    Russ

Indeed, the HD5670 is 220% as powerful as the 9500GT, and the HD4870 is 240% as powerful as the HD5670, yet the HD4870 came in 512MB and 1GB versions - the 1GB card only pulled ahead even slightly at 1920x1200. Below that there's no difference.

The Sapphire has GDDR5 RAM... does that make a difference? I saw that he was looking at the 1GB RAM equipped cards and included a few to peruse. ;) I liked the Sapphire 5670 512MB card just fine but the 1GB card was only a few more bucks and for some reason it had much better reviews. ;)

add: forgot the G in the RAM.... :p

GDDR5 memory is a bit faster than GDDR3 memory (The G is significant), but both the 512MB and 1GB HD5670s use GDDR5, so there's no issue there like there is with some cards.

Now Sam you did'nt say that back when,I bought this card for my UD3P build you suggested 1GB write off the bat This is'nt because it's a AMD build is it? I don't wanna start a war among video cards and cpu's here like others have,I just want the EVO and the UD3P board evenly matched in video and as.I see it the Max Resolution 2560 x 1600 are the same with all 3 Radeon but the core clock is different my 5770 is 850mhz they are 775mhz that can be bumped up with some Oc'ing and $10 for alittle extra 512mb's to make a 1gb won't hurt my pockets none:)

there's only a $10 different between the 2 cards basic on memory and the 1GB had better reviews!

now you say people have an obsession with graphics memory now what about Motherboard memory? People out here buying 4,6,8 and even more which they don't need to run some programs. I barely use 2 myself but yet insteal, I got 4 cause of a deal at the time am. I throwing my money away on that to? I believe Nobody in here is using all there memory at once if so prove me wrong. I use about 35% take in account at idle I'm running win 7 32bit which only see's 3.25. I found myself not liking 64 cause to many driver issue's and conflicts with software memory depends on how many programs you have running at the same time. I never saw a 100% usage

Ps. Thanks for everybody's suggestions you all are like a Jury in a court room in argument the facts behind closed doors, We all like things different here that's what sets us apart in some issues on parts Quality,Name and Looks my reasoning behind building AMD system is because that Little Bird'ee named Russ. I wanna learn things about the amd side of things also to try and help others down the line...

No, I didn't suggest a 1GB card specifically, I suggested an HD5770. There is no 512MB HD5770, so you are lumbered with 1GB. Also, given my discussion earlier, the HD5770 is a card powerful enough to make use of 1GB, assuming you are making good use of it.
As for newegg reviews, you of course know not to believe a word they say, and if you read the reviews, the majority of them are people whining that you need a powered Displayport dongle to use eyefinity if you don't own a displayport monitor. This is true of all cards. You will notice the clock speeds of the 512MB and 1GB cards are identical.
System memory is a little different to graphics memory. There is no game that can use an excessive amount of graphics memory, it just doesn't happen, but it is up to you how much system memory you use - if you were to open a vast number of instances of a particular program, you could use 20GB worth of memory, if you really wanted to. There is also the issue of crazy games that eat system memory - both GTA4 and Crysis Warhead for example can use 8GB of system RAM in a 64-bit Windows environment.

You made it sound like I was contradicting myself by advising you only to buy a 512MB HD5670 when I told you to buy a 1GB HD5770. Put simply if there was a 512MB HD5770 I would have recommended it to you.
