I've heard that if you can feel heat from a radiator that means it's overburdened and can't handle the heat output of the components in the loop.

So it is designed to work with two fans, I like it even more now. By the way the main purpose of shrouds is to reduce cavitation (fans in push/pull also help with this) on the surface of the radiator; it never occurred to me that they would also force more air through it.

    Red_Maw,
It doesn't come with two fans. I ordered this one to replace the one that came with it.

After I removed the original fan, I put the Scythe on the rear of the cooler, pulling air out. The one I removed, I installed on the opposite side of the Rad, blowing air in. I run both at full speed, as that works the best. The motherboard controls are just too slow! makes a little more noise, but worth every Db! Be sure to set your CPU fan controller to disabled in the setup. That will give you full power to the fan. The rear Scythe, you can run from a MB header or a molex adapter. I prefer the Molex adapter myself.

The theory about being able to feel the heat at the fan is all wrong. You should feel heat when you have it under load, otherwise it wouldn't be working. It generates almost no heat when it's idling!

Sorry, I meant to say that it was designed to be used with two fans, not one (like the h50 iirc).

    Red_Maw,
I will say this, the fan I chose for the rear, works real well with the the stock fan moved to the front of the Radiator, in Push/Pull. The 70mm fan I stuck between the Pump body and the mount thumbscrews takes care of the motherboard temps, and my Video card is now back in the 16x slot, so I may go back and try for 4.0GHz again. First I've got to see how well it does when the outside temps go up to 105-110F. Typically, if it's 110F outside, we can maintain between 80 and 85F in the house. Even my room, which is air conditioned struggles a bit. This is a Typical post WWII house, without any insulation in the outside walls. I've managed a couple of heaters here, in a P4 3.0GHz Prescot, and a Pentium D 940, so I'm pretty sure the ECO will be up to the task with the 955BE!

    Best Regards,
    Russ

yeah I know exactly what you mean; 80F is what I call the nightly low in the summer :( That's main reason I'm WC the cpu this year since it's barely surviving on air at stock right now.

Edit: Finally used more than 50% of my ram during "normal" usage XD

Yup. Starting to think I should use a normal sig like everyone else, no one tends to read the cpuz one (maybe because it's hard to see).

    Estuansis,
LOL!! Thanks! I haven't done much with Intel in quite a while, so I haven't really kept up with them. Most of the computers I work on are AMDs these days. Most of the Intel's I do see are laptops. I just sent two back to Mass, last week. A Dell 6000 and a Toshiba A105. My friend had taken them in to the "Geek Squad" at Best Buy, and they wanted $160 each, just to look at them! :(

Haha I'm not much up-to-date on i7 either. I do know most of the basics about the platforms though and the general differentiations between the cores. Seems my luck ran out on the 6 Core Phenom II for now. Someone got the deal :(

Yeah most of my OCing history has been AMDs with some early Core 2s mixed in. Chips like Yorkfield and Penryn are beasts in comparison. I'm going to cling sheepishly to my good old Phenom II for a while :p

go for it russ, dual 4770s are inbetween a 4850x2 and 4870x2, so between a 5850 and 5870, more near 5870 id say.

for such a cheap ammount, go for it!

AMD seem to be coming in hard in the notebook segment aswell.

and with bulldozer next year, hopefully they will bring the fight to the high end intel sandybridge.
