Fondness would be an understatement xD Though recently, the 7200S NEC/Optiarc wowed me in a way I haven't seen for a long time. Which is exactly why I like having multiple drives. It was the only one that could read a couple of discs that seemed to be badly pressed.
The drive in question is a Lite-on LH-20A1S. One of my more favored drives. The LH-20A1H being my most favored. It has seen the most discs ;) Though my iHES108 is a BD drive. So technically, it should be my favorite :D
I didn't post Everest shots, because Everest has a knack for crashing the PC, especially when under stress ;)
I'll try to upload a shot of everest today, but I can't seem to find the appy...

Yeah if I open Everest for more than a split second, I will need to reboot else the PC will get progressively slower until it crashes. Besides installing windows it's been so long since I've needed a CD or DVD that I only ever dig my sole optical drive out of the cupboard to install an OS, then put it away. One between four PCs is plenty :D

Ever experiment with installing OS from USB?
Load time is quicker, but if you add to it the time to copy from CD/extract .ISO to the USB it seems to about even out.

No, because I never use USB drives either :p

I imagine that's the pump... can't hear it :p The overall PC is substantially quieter.

Idle temps. The only load temps this badboy sees is Dvd Rebuilder or Dvd Shrink. I haven't done any BD encoding on the primary. Eventually, a 6 or 12 core CPU will be my primary, then I'll get serious about BD encoding xD I'm thinking I wanna convert my secondary into a linux system. I know I've talked about it before, but I'm really leaning that way now. The best way to learn a language is immerse yourself in it. Imagine how much quicker a person would learn Japanese if they were surrounded by only japanese people ;)

The PSU fan speed is very high for load, how is it being measured, does the 750 have a sensor connector?

I'm afraid I'm uncertain. But 1200 hardly seems high :S Perhaps at idle, if the PSU works that way. I generally don't worry about GOOD PSU's ;)

Is that the look of thinking a bit overkill? I suppose sometimes I do go a bit overboard, but I'm addicted to photoshop. I'm playing with CS5 lately. Quite nice!

Yep that would be a Lite-On. Looks identical to my main optical drive.

rick: Is this over a network? 10.2MB/s sounds like you're only connected to a network PC at 100 Megabit. Check the cable you're using, along with the router/hub, resetting them if necessary.

Depends what you're copying. If it's lots of small files, 10MB/s or less is common, due to the latency of accessing each random file (not to mention that all files have a 4KB FT block even if they're smaller than that). If it's one giant file, check how full and fragmented each hard disk is. Heavily fragmented, or 95%+ full drives have severely diminished transfer rates.

Don't really know if it's reporting right, I just Transfered 20Gig in 6 mins. Which is pretty damn fast. But it shows 10.2 mbs, and I know at 10.2mbs a sec it takes a lot longer then 6 mins

    Sam,
It looks like an interesting chip, a chip for the enthusiast. That leads to the other side of the equation! Since less than 10% of them will actually be overclocked, and their performance at stock is almost identical, given the equal price, where is it going to find a home. The less than 10% enthusiast market simply can't support it. Not throwing rocks in any way, just pointing out that even up, the Pentium G seems to come up a bit short. I just looked at the US prices, and it seems that the G is about $85 here now, so why not review it against the Phenom IIx2 555, 3.2GHz dual core. Granted it has a higher stock clock speed to begin with, but it can be clocked to 4+GHz, so it is more competitive OC'd . Tom's Hardware recently did just that.
    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/phenom-ii-x2-555-pentium-g6950,2617.html

At $100 the AMD is $15 more, but has twice the L3 Cache, and 1MB of L2. While the integrated Video is nice on the G, but it does get pretty hot. Overclocked, it gets very hot. For $15 more you get 400 more MHz stock, 3 more MB of L3, 1MB of L2, it supports more technologies, and a very good motherboard can be had for less money. With more than 90% never going to be overclocked, I think the Phenom II x2 555 is a better value!

    Best Regards,
    Russ
