you need to change the TJ Max in coretemp to 95c. it will show it as 105c if you don't.

click on options, then settings. type in -10 after Tjunction Max Offset.

Adjusting it spreads it out so it's not too bad. Only thing I can think of is that maybe you put down TOO much thermal paste(unlikely) or that you just got a hot CPU. Your saving grace is that you should be able to OC it considerably on stock voltages and see little temp increase.

Oh and I just checked. The Tuniq Tower is a bit better. So that may be why I get better temps. Have you tried turning up the fan speed. I run mine at full speed and it's not that loud.

my tj max was set at 100 so i offset it by 5. the temps did drop a few degress. it is now at 37. what is the tj max?

i am running at full fan speed right now with case fans turned up. with my old cpu i ran all on low and it idled around 30.

TJmax is the highest temperature the cores should be. No one really knows what the real TJMax is, they are all estimates.

intel won't officially release the TJ Max for the 45nm cpu's but word on the street is that it is 95c.

tj max is actually where the cpu will start throttling back.

That's probably right. I remember some guy using an IR gun or something to test it.

Yeah, thats the highest temps. You don't want a throttled down PC :)

Krj, yeah those CPUs can go a lot on stock voltage. And if you don't increase the voltage the temps wont increase much either.

ok i just tested my cpu on full load for about 5 min and the highest core is now at 60. i also searched google and some people are saying the correct tj max is 90

Don't worry about it too much. You're never going to run it at full load anyway. 60C on the cores is fine. Make sure it's stable(Many people recommend running folding@Home) and you're good to go.

it doesn't really matter what the tj max is. it's the distance to tj max that matters.

while were on temps..lol finally got mine right with the new CPU.
other than a stuck sensor on core 0.

just used that new program to stress the cpu and mem. intelburntest.. very nice tool. i choose to do the max stress.

temps right now one core 0=45(stuck there at idle)
    temp on core 1=39c

    yes im slap happy now.

    lol

It took me over 6000 secs to run that test on max stress.

Yeah. It takes a while because it tested 8GB of ram lol. Plus I had it run 10 times instead of 5.

its about time you get the system right Rob lol, now see what your encoding times are with DVD Rebuilder.

not to be off subject ddp/LOCO/creaky but there has been a aDa with a sig way over the limit and nothing ever has been done about it in several years. so i think we need to be consistent with everyone.I can PM you the info if needed and Russ i see two lines of text also

    Mort81,
I was just going to ask about that! I discovered by setting the TJ max to 100, my temps equal the ones in the Setup, and the thermal probe confirms them and they now agree almost 100% with Everest's readings for the cores! That makes me believe that the E6750 has a TJ Max of 100C, rather than the 95C I've been lead to believe! The core temps are just too close to the Everest readings, not to be believed!

    Happy Computering,
    Russ

Okay guys I posted in the wrong forum and got called off to work.I was trying to find the old posts about PSU's with links about the different brands and ratings. If I could be pointed in that direction again, this short term memory would be quite happy.Chris

    ChrisC586,
It would be easier to just start from square one! Can you give me a rundown on your computer's specs? Just all the hardware so I can do a little figuring, please!

    Best Regards,
    Russ
