It'd possible it's not only explorer that's got a lock on a file/device, i've only ever seen it being explorer myself but i guess it's possible it's something else. Am somewhat drunk so will retreat from the keyboard forthwith , have fun you (sober) PC build freaks

I've used Unlocker and it can work but not always. There are other tools like that but they also are not 100%. Sometimes you just have to unlock it manually and that can be a pain too so it is normally easier just to kill explorer and re-initiate it, if that doesn't work shutdown pull device and reboot.

    1st - Yes
Press <CTRL>+<ALT>+<DEL> and select Change a password...
You can also control it from here but this is more dangerous
as if you do something wrong it could mean you can't boot
    into your system.
    %WinDir%\System32\control.exe userpasswords2
Once the "User Accounts" UI pops up you should be on the "Users" tab
select your account in the "Users for this computer:" window and
    check the box for
[X] "Users must enter a user name and password to this computer."
You can also now goto the "Advanced" tab and force using the
CTRL+ALT=DEL keys to logon by checking the box for
[X] Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete

    2nd - Yes again.
Open the Control Panel and then double-click on Power Options.
Now click on which ever Preferred plans Change plan settings.
Next click on the link for Change advanced power settings.
Power Options UI should popup and in my case with Balanced
expanded you'll see "Require a password on wakeup/Setting: Yes".

I think this is good news and maybe WD needs to look at buying IBM/Lenovo next. This is much like AMD making ATI viable again, good job WD.

Why would WD buy out IBM/Lenovo? Their only interests are the mechanical storage sector, and IBM's storage division was long bought out by Hitachi, so WD technically already own all they need from IBM.

Why did Time Warner buy Atari? Why did Disney buy ESPN? Why did Microsoft buy Yahoo? I guess it is because they want to expand their market and get bigger. Ya think?

Hitachi owns IBM, now WD owns Hitachi. WD owns IBM...

    The hard drive division anyhow.

Finally connected my 3rd WD20EARS drive. It's long formatting right now. I began by changing all of the sata ports to AHCI. The windows drive didn't like that. So I may have to reinstall. I've been considering it anyway...
So for now, only the Esata ports (2 of um) are configured for AHCI. Which includes the front Esata port, and my internal remaining single Black 1tb drive. Crossing fingers for yet another faithful 2Tb drive :D *touch wood*

    No need to re-install. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976
Change a registry setting, restart and then change your BIOS to AHCI

Thanks deadrum. I know I've seen that before too :p

I wonder how long a Petabyte drive would take to format :S

Sam or Jeff, or an owner of the Haf932. Have you ever had trouble with the Esata port in front? I was watching a dvd off of one of my shelved hard drives, via "Thermaltake BlacX ST0005U" dock. Since there doesn't appear to be power fluctuations, I'm looking at the front Esata port with a raised brow. Thoughts on this?

Neither the front USB nor eSATA ports on my HAF work, they never have.

They don't work at all? That's pretty dire man. Why is that exactly? Shoddy craftsmanship, or simply disconnected because you knew you wouldn't use them. What would you do if you needed to connect an eSATA device?

I'll be darned. eSATA is proper...

Just bad manufacture/design. It's a problem that plagues several coolermaster designs. If I need to hook up an eSATA device, I'll use my server's NZXT Whisper, which does have a working eSATA port.

Well...I know I transferred several hundred gigs across the USB connection it has. So the problem must be with the eSATA port on the HAF! Dirty :(

Yeah! The long format is 94% complete :D

Confirmed. I connected the Sata dock via usb (rear tower panel), and all is well. I may just have to have a closer look at cooler masters front panel.

On another note, I have yet another fresh 2tb drive, itching for data :D And as you can see, I've began a new naming scheme. Yolanda is not present here. She's in one of my smoke colored Hdd storage containers. I haven't decided what to store there yet.

    Zoe: my first 1Tb drive.
    Yolanda: my second 1Tb drive.
Xena: my third 1Tb drive. I keep her around, for 24/7 processes ;) ;) ;)
    Wanda: my first 2Tb drive.
Ulani: my second 2Tb drive, I changed it :p
    Tamara: my third(virgin) 2Tb drive :D

V is a virtual drive. It seemed logical to give it that drive letter ;)

And obviously C:\ is my beloved Veloci xD
