Once again, thanks Sam...Yeah, I used System Restore and got it working and the BIOS are up to date...Bizarre.

More bizarre yet, after trying to install the software suite for my Logitech Orbit MP webcam, on reboot the computer continued to get to windows but reboot immediately...It just kept doing this.

I ended up having to go to system restore through Safe Mode as it would not start up normally...As it is, I haven't reinstalled the software for the webcam for obvious reason.

For 4 or 5 years, I may have used System Restore once and in 24 hrs I have done it twice...Question, is there something wrong that I need to fix or is this par for the course?...Thinking do I need to reinstall windows?

if you get a lot of issues, maybe, But if just one or two, they happen, don't worry about it too much.

hi could some one put together a good system for clear crisp graphics for gaming with no freezing and jerking for around £600

it would need to include intel core 2duo or amd athlon x2 a system for each proccessor would be very much appreciated. by the way it should be able to run vista with no problems.
    thankyou all for any advice.

    @humza

you will be luckey with that budget.

if you want c2d you would need to up you budget, as the cpu is £130 a good mobo £130 and some ram £130, then a mid range graphics card £110. this leaves you with £100 to power it, cool it, house it, store all the data and load the data(plus a kboard, mouse, screen and the rest).

an am2 x2 rig would be slightly less but would offer alot less performance.

Depends what you mean "running Vista with no problems" - with just word processing and multimedia playback that's easy, with gaming it's impossible.

A system with a basic dedicated graphics card (Integrated won't support Vista properly) will be OK in Vista, but you're still not telling us what you need to do. Do you watch DVDsand word process or do you play games?

OK. Clear crisp gaming. In what?
    X2 3800+ http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/94640 £118
    A8N-SLI SE http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/101701 £57
    Kingston 1GB http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/49296 £77
    Casecom case http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/105810 £25
    Hiper PSU http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/109552 £53
    X1900XT 256MB http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/116149 £180
    250GB Caviar http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/94403 £52
    DVD Writer http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/115035 £21
    That's a relatively ace system that'll cost you a mild £585+delivery.
I'm hoping I havent left anything important out!

£70 for the lanparty mobo thats almost giving them away. that makes me consider upgrading to a 939, £200 and it would get me a dual core rig.

It would indeed. And they rock! :)
to be fair though, the A8N-SLi SE is a pretty competent board, and unless he's a pro-overclocker like you, is the extra £12 worth it?
Even so, I surprised myself that it was possible to build a system like that for that sort of money. That's peanuts compared to a high end pre-built system, and that I would indeed class as high end.

    that i can do,

    mobo - Abit AW9D Intel 975X - £132(will support kentsfields aswel) - 2nd down
    http://www.advancetec.co.uk/acatalog/ABIT_775.html

    cpu - e6300 - £128 - top one
    http://www.advancetec.co.uk/acatalog/core_2_duo.html

    ram - 1gb corsair ddr2 - £78 - 6th down
    http://www.advancetec.co.uk/acatalog/Value_Select.html

    gpu - 7600gt - £108 - 4th down
    http://www.advancetec.co.uk/acatalog/Asus_nv_pcx.html

    hdd - 250 GB Samsung SP2504C SpinPoint - £47 - 3rd down
    http://www.advancetec.co.uk/acatalog/250GB.html

    dvdrw - Pioneer DVR-111D - £23 - 25th down
    http://www.advancetec.co.uk/acatalog/INTE_WRS.html

    psu - Seasonic 500w S12-500 - £78 - 2nd down
    http://www.advancetec.co.uk/acatalog/Seasonic.html

case - Antec Solo Quiet Mini Tower Case - £65 - 10th down(my current fave, this is realy up to you as you have to look at it all the time not me)
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Antec_Cases.html

the rest is up to you, the screen speakers and kboard/mouse, you might also want a sound card if you want the highest quality sound, but this will fit the bill. the gpu is a mid range card and good value for money(with the dx10 cards around the corner you dont want to waste money here) and that is why i picked most of them not the best but good for the price and fits the bill(some of them i have myself).

[bold]this costs £659 [/bold]inc vat (+ p+p). and no i dont work for advancetec but i have bought from them with out problems and they are as cheap as any-one else i can find in the uk. if you can find them cheaper elseware, get them there. all the things i picked are with future upgrades in mind, newwer cpu, more ram, newwer/dual gpu.

i think that about covers it.

    Oy, sorry.
Well, its not a used email, so I dont care if it gets spammed.

Sorry. But still, it'd be really nice if someone could send an extra GMail invite for my friend.

    --Thanks, Jordan
