hey fihsnerd thx for the case suggestion, but like i said it will be in a cabinet so having ports on the side doesnt work. I wont be able to plug anything into them cos there wont be room.

    edit: spelling

whats up everyone.need some help here.Ok I wanna build another PC & the last time i tried this on my own i screwed up ALOT.I'm still learning about compatibility an such.Anyway,I want a comp. made for gaming(kinda) so I was looking at this mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813127207&ATT=13-127-207&CMP=OTC-d3alt1me
Now is this a decent one to get or not?Thats my first question, second(going back to compatibility) what would be a good processor to get with this?I've searched & searched trying to read & learn about this type of stuff but i just dont understand it.
Money wise, I dont wanna get outragous but i want something decent.

    Thanks for any help.

your link doesnt seem to load but anyway a good gaming mobo would be ASUS A8N32-SLI Premium MB Socket 939.

CPU ,wait till 7/25 of this month and you can get a AMD 3800x2 for 169.00 dollars which would be a great core

oh BTW guys i will be off line several days till i get my cooling problems worked out with this new system so its looking like about sat. before i will be back on!!

Dont get that.. get an ati X850XT or an X800XT they are 256bit and they come in 256mg and 512mg.. but do what you want.. i would NOT prefer that card.. the more ram the better because the next gen games require more and more ram out of your card..

BTW: sammorris, what do you think of this?

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817182037

and here is the video i am going to try and order..

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814102025

on the power supply.. i did not know i needed one come me birthday.. so i am going to try and pitch in the extra 50 and take that out of my allowance for 5 weeks.. :)

Thanks guys.I think i'll hold off for now then & see what happens.Do you guys have any suggestions on any particular board & cpu thats a reasonable price?ABC I appreciate the suggestion on the mobo but thats a little high for my budget right now, unless i'm not looking hard enough.Again I dont wanna get rediculous but dont wanna be too cheap either.if CPU price is gonna drop in the next couple weeks then feel free to wait to respond to this, but ill keep checking daily just in case anyone has any ideas.

Thanks in advance for anyones help

I hope I'm not interupting anyone, but I would really like some input on the PC I would like to build. (this is going to be long)For starters, it will be used primarily for gaming, and I would like it to be quite powerful, but nothing excessive. Noise is not really an issue. I will not be recycling any parts so I'll need to buy everything new. My planned budget for this is anywhere from $1,000 to $1,700.

This is what I have so far: (impressive, I know)

    Mouse - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16826104164
    Keyboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16823126135
    Monitor - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824224008
    OS - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16837102059

Those I am fairly sure I will get, unless there is something wrong with them....

Here are the parts I'm not sure about. I've picked ones that look promising, but I have very little knowledge about this so I'll just see what guys say.

Motherboard, video card, processor, hard drive, speakers, and ram. This is embarassing, but I have to admit that I have no clue about a modem, sound card, or anything else I forgot to mention. Well, I guess that's it. Hopefully that is enough information?

aabbccdd, how's this for a new monitor? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824116373
I wasn't very sure about Tyris, so thanks for confirming my fears. I looked at all the other stuff you listed and for all i know
it looks like it would work out awesome. As for that CPU, I plan on waiting until middle to late August to order anything in case other stuff drops in price also. A few more questions for you:

I know I read somewhere that sound cards are not neccesary, and I see that you did not list one. Does this mean it would be a waste of my money?
I bought a pretty good NEC dvd rom drive a couple months ago (so I could play TES:IV Oblivion. By the way, would the parts you listed make for a computer that could easily handle any games out there right now?) Do I need another one besides that?

Overclocking is still a mystery to me, but I'm sure I can find someone who can do it for me. Would this be wise?

Is a cooling device only needed for an overclocked computer?

Ok that's all I have right now. Thanks.
