I'm getting close to a completed list here, but still would like some input before I order later today or tomorrow. Here's where I'm at right now:

    Keyboard and Mouse - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16823109156

    Hard Drive - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148140

    Ram - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145587

    Motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131568

    Video Card - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143037

    Power Supply - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103931

    Cooling Fan - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835118223

    Processor - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103562

    CD Rom Drive - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827101411

As you can see, I have no case, sound card, or modem. I guess I kind of ran into a dead end on those. Also, I was thinking that I should probably get a surge protector in case of lightning or something? Well, I look forward to a reply and thanks in advance.

poopsquaw---(love that name)Actually that board you linked has onboard sound and LAN (unless you need dial-up modem) so you should be fine with that.
I suggest a sound card, but not needed to get your system going.

In a few of the reviews there were negative comments about the onboard sound, so I would like to go ahead and not use that. But that's awesome that I don't need a modem. Thanks.

Most people would wish to avoid onboard sound, like me. Get a cheap SB audigy card for PCI (mine was £17 for 7.1 24-bit EAX). much better!

Audigy, got it. So I'm guessing there's no real problems with the parts I selected? A case and I'm all set?

poopsquaw ,everything looks great ,remember the AMD 3800x2 will have a price drop this coming tues.

one thing i would do different is get a CD/DVD-ROM instead of just a CD-ROM .it will only be about 6 or 7 bucks more.

yeah get an good sound card , i linked you some cases in an earlier post a while back so look though thoses. there were ATX and Antec.

the keyboard looks great but if you can swing it get the Logitech MX-1000 Laser mouse ,i have one and its great for gaming.

Audigy is what I use, and I agree about not using the onboard sound. I was making sure it wasnt overlooked like the LAN connection was! :)
I also agree with aabbccdd about choice of optical drives.
You went through all this trouble, find a case you really like and and dont let a few dollars (marks, pounds, euros) steer you away from that one thing you like the most!

aabbccdd, I'll be waiting on the processor, but everything else I will order asap, thanks for the headsup on that again. As for the drives, I bought a pretty nice NEC dvd drive in order to play Oblivion, so that should work well for my slave drive, no? Mouse looks great, and afterall this computer is for gaming mostly. I'll reveiw the cases again, I guess I'm just worried that once I pick one it won't work with some of my parts, but we'll see what happens I guess.

Deadrum33, thanks for filling me in about the mobo, made me feel kind of stupid though. But yes, I feel like I have went through a lot and I will for sure not let a price scare me away from something if I really want it. Thanks for the advice.

How's that sound card? I will post a case before I order that also. I have leftover money in budget, so if there is anything that can be upgraded for better performance and not a whole lot of money I'll seriously consider that.

Yes that sound card will work fine.

is the NEC a CD/DVD burner? or just a ROM drive ,because i would def.have a burner for CDS and DVDS. shoot me back about that so we know

yes thats great but you will want a CD/DVD-ROM for your second drive so you can use that drive for a reader for BOTH CDs and DVDs that way you can use the second drive for a everyday drive to play games load programs etc. and save the burner (NEC) from the wear a tear for using it for everthing. heres a few to look though

this would be my pic for the money

I understand what you meant now, makes a lot of sense. That first link should suit my needs perfectly. My goal is a system that will easily run any games out there, and stay on top for quite a while before upgrading. I feel like each post from you guys gets me close, so thanks again. AfterDawn should pay you, or I should. One of the two.

I'm am very glad that you enjoy helping people so much. Honestly, I hope you take a lot of pride in the amount of knowledge you have in this area. How did you learn so much, by the way?

As for the build, my brother-in-law and I will be doing it next weekend. It will be a nice bonding experience. I've printed off instructions from a few different websites, and he knows more than me about it already so we should be fine.

So does this mean I'm all set? Don't need to go a step higher on anything?

Yes I'll be ordering XP Home from newegg as well, just didn't bother to post it. Kind of worried about the hard drive, should I step that up or am I just getting worried because I'm about to spend a lot of money?

Nice case, sound is fine (in fact, same as mine so definitely fine). Step up from 320GB? That's a lot of room, more than I have. I wouldn't worry too much unless you torrent 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Good luck with your build!
