That's an SLI connector used for connecting two nVidia graphics cards together in SLI mode.

The Hiper PS works just fine in my old PC.

    Bad mobo?

I tried taking everything out of the PC and reinstalling it. Still nothing. I hate to take this PC to a shop to get it looked at. I have no idea what to do now.

    Any more suggestions?

your old mobo may not be ATX2, but it is possible that your board is DOA. You could try disconnecting some stuff (to avoid overload) and use an old PSU in your new board if you have one.

Lol thanks very much! Yeah rounded cables help a lot. If only I could work out why that image takes so long to load. I suppose it was uploaded quite a while ago. There are now two grey crescents on each side of the side fan from the dust that's accumulated!

The X600Se is a pretty damn slow card if you want my honest opinion! How much do you have to spend and where are you from? We can undoubtedly find you something better for the same price, or less!

A whole computer? Well it can be done for $400, easily, it just depends what you class as decent.

    Athlon64 3500+ $91.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103533
    Asus A8N5X $93.12 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131569
    wD Caviar SE 80GB $48.98 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822135106
    Thermaltake 430W $24.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817153023
    NEC DVD Writer $28.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827152058
    Raidmax Elite Case $33.31 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811156011
    Gecube X800GTO 256MB $76.12 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814241021

Aha! Who said it couldn't be done? Post-rebates that's $396.52, and really, I actually would class that as a decent PC!

I am going to build a system for someone based on the new nforce 590 SLI Intel Edition shipping next month. Is there any real advantage in using the same manufacturer for both the vid card and the mb?

For instance, if I get an Asus mb, would an Asus 7950GX2 offer any real advantages over an XFX or BFG 7950GX2?

Nah, the vid card companies all get identical GPU's to use in their cards. The only reason to match manufacturers is if you're obsessive compulsive and simply have to have them match ;)

I kind of figured that too. The only reason I thought Asus would be good is that they will probably be the first to market with the Intel version of the nforce 590 board and since it is high end, they might run there version of the 7950GX2 through a bit more QC than others might have a chance to.

wyntre, i have that card with the Asus mobo(per my sig) and its works fine ,keep in mind the 7950 GX2 takes up TWO PCI slots

    @ sammorris
Noticed you have a Zalman CNPS7000Alcu on your CPU... I have the same CPU. What was the drop in temp from switching from the MFG. cooling fan?

I was looking at some LCD monitors and I noticed that there is a 20" and a 20.1"? what is the .1- does it have something to do with how wide it is?
