You know... I work all day with people that are at their ends, their mad, hateful and ungrateful-maybe a couple of times a day I will see some thankfulness... I do enjoy reading the couple threads I read daily, and cannot measure the amount of knowledge I have recieved at Aferdawn. People are willing to give what many charge an arm and a leg for. It is sad that you have to read the garbage above... why in Gods name would you name call? what gives anyone the right to attack some else's character. Why should I be subjected to this garbage- I come here to deal with educated men and women who's only desire is to help one another, I do not come here to read such filth! If I want to do that I will read the side of a building down town that are done by hateful young people. If you cannot Convey your point in a civil manner maybe one should not speak at all " It is better to not speak at all and be thought of as a fool... Then to open ones mouth and remove all doubt"

Listen.. I really dont care what any of you say..
all i am saying that it for new buildiers who are building a new system from a 754 or socket A or an old intel should go with conroe because of the performance over price..

    dont hate..

if i do have an attitude.. u must understand that i have a reason for it..so have sympathy.. and ddp i dont know who killed my old profie.. but that was not needed.. i am not hatting.. but that was well unnessesary..

and their is nothing wrong with any of yalls computers..as i said befor.. it is good for a completely new system.. that is all.. i am not hatting on anyones computer..

And.. herrick .. seriously.. i am glad you got your rant out. because if you would take a sec and reread what i wrote.. you would understand that i am not a bad person.. U just need to learn how to read.. really.. that is done with my ranting. and it was not ranting.. i was just stating OPINIONS..

So ddp.. dont band me.. sammorris and herrick and aabbccdd please re-read, and think.. i am not yelling.. but the attacks were uncalled for..

So we are back to normal..

what does anyone think of Intels new Xeon processors? going from 3.8 to 1.6... amazing.. did netburst suck that bad? lmao

    ttfn,
    Ryan

Despite my previous misgivings, I side with ddp on this one. Come on Ryan, you know better than that. AMD processors still cut it in some markets in the UK.

Hey guys...the front side USB's on my new Sonata II case with my PC build don't seem to be responding at all. I tried to install the drivers from my mobo cd (there was something that said USB 2.0 Drivers), and it said I needed Windows Service Pack. I did windows update...and it still doesn't work. ANy idea what might be wrong?

Also...what are good temperatures for the "CPU" and "system"? I think mine are reading in at 45 C and 35 C respectively. My case fan has 3 speeds (right now it's on high) and it's a little loud, so I"m thinking I might be able to lower it...at least when I"m not doing any gaming or other demanding applications.

    THanks!

Those temps are fine. If you have the service packs, are you absolutely sure the USB ports are plugged in right?

Looks pretty damn sweet, Ryan! Only thing, X850XT PEs, aren't they typically expensive? May want to compare that to an X1900GT price-wise. If the latter isn't much more, then go for that.

    aabbccdd,this may interest you:
and anyone else with a non premium A8N-sli motherboard.

Are you stuck with an old ASUS A8N-SLI (Non-Deluxe and Deluxe) motherboard? If you are, then we have some good news for you. As you probably know, ASUS has stopped releasing BIOS updates for these motherboards. The last BIOS update was at the end of 2005. We’ve discovered that it’s possible to flash the Premium BIOS on the normal A8N-SLI motherboard, or even the deluxe version.

What will you gain from flashing the premium BIOS on the normal A8N-SLI?

    * Updated BIOS with many fixes and updates
    * Better support for memory modules
    * Better overclocking ability
    * Support for GeForce 7950GX2
    * Ability to change chipset voltage
    * Ability to change HT voltage

sam,I posted that one for you at the other thread but thought I'd post it here as well.Just remember, there is a couple of options you need to turn off in the bios before you do it.Have a careful read and you should be ok.

Mmm, I'll consider it, but for the moment I have a separate issue to sort. I got a crash at 10% and thought" oh crap don't tell me it isn't even stable there" but it turns out said crash also occurs stock. It's something to do with having two IcyBoxes and transferring data between them. It's only ever happened when I've been doing that.

    yeah.. yeah..
but i have the X850XT at the PE speeds.. thats what i am saying.. all together it was 100.00 for the 850XT.. while it performs like a 7800GT..
i am not going to complain.. :)

but i would have gotten that card..
but i was not wanting 256mg.

    i am learning..
so it will be a good compy i am guessing?

i will have aroung 800 after selling my current compy.. :)

    ttfn,
    Ryan

Yeah, to be fair, the RAM's irrelevant, the 1900GT is faster. An X850XT is nothing to sneeze at though, especially for that price. That will be an ace PC.

    aabbccdd,
your welcome.Let us know how it goes.Have a good read first,I noticed you have the deluxe version so there is no need to disable anything in your bios. For the SLI/(NON-deluxe and SE versions)there's a few options you need to disable in your bios before you proceed.Do it right and you'll have a very good value premium board.
